This hands-on role combines technical expertise, project coordination, troubleshooting, and manufacturing support to drive successful product development. Responsibilities include coordinating compressor builds, supporting assembly and manufacturing processes, resolving technical issues, managing components and materials, evaluating performance data, and training manufacturing personnel globally.\nDuties and Responsibilities\nDirects the assembly of prototype compressors and custom equipment in support of departmental requirements and coordinates activities with test laboratory personnel.\nAssists with the development of new component manufacturing and compressor assembly methods as required by design change and/or new product development.\nLearns how to assemble new compressors and train the build room operators in proper assembly methods for new, revised and existing compressor designs.\nMaintains a safe working environment in the compressor build room and trains personnel and engineers to follow all safety protocols.\nTroubleshoots field failures by coordinating compressor teardown and component analysis. Assists in the preparation of failure analysis reports.\nMaintains and coordinates the availability of compressor components, assemblies, and development hardware in support of engineering programs, product improvements, and warranty investigations.\nCoordinates incoming and outgoing component packaging and shipping activities for a wide range of compressor materials both domestically and internationally. Serves as compressor engineering liaison to component suppliers.\nContributes product and process improvement ideas to support compressor design, manufacturing efficiency, reliability improvements, and cost reduction initiatives.\nCoordinates with test lab personnel in building, modifying and instrumenting test compressors and delivering these compressors to the test facilities.\nEnsures compressor components meet engineering requirements by coordinating sourcing activities, dimensional and geometric verification, and inspection of incoming parts to confirm compliance with design specifications.\nSome worldwide travel in support of global compressor manufacturing and assembly operations is required.\nPerforms other duties as assigned and demonstrates flexibility in supporting evolving business and engineering needs, including supporting engineering activities during customer visits.\nSkills and Qualifications\nMinimum of 5 years’ experience in the technical field of rotating equipment manufacturing and assembly required. 10 years’ experience is preferred.\nStrong mechanical aptitude with extensive hands-on assembly and troubleshooting experience.\nMust be familiar with manufacturing, assembly and functional testing and inspection methods & practices associated with high-speed, precision, rotating equipment such as centrifugal compressors.\nMust be able to read and understand mechanical drawings.\nMust possess good verbal and written communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as handle pdf documents.\nDemonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and provide technical direction to technicians and operators.\nMust have good planning and organizational skills.\nMust maintain a professional appearance and positive work attitude, in accordance with work area and Company policies.\nPreferred requirements:\nFamiliarity with CAD tools, ability to query 3D models to extract dimensional and assembly information.\nKnowledge of HVAC equipment, operation and construction.\nExperience handling high pressure vessels and hazardous materials.\nAn understanding of the operation of a compressor gas block.\nAn understanding of the flow of work within the machine shop.\nHIRING HOURLY RANGE: $30.00 - $40.00 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
