In this role, you will help lead branch systems operations with a strong focus on customer outcomes, project execution, safety, and compliance.\nRole Overview\nUnder general direction, the Controls Systems Team Leader manages a branch systems operation team consisting of system technicians and system designers. You will assign projects to lead systems specialists, allocate resources effectively, and provide coordination support on projects with higher contract complexity to help ensure work is delivered safely, ethically, on time, and within scope.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead and support a team of system technicians and system designers in day-to-day branch operations.\nAssign projects to lead systems specialists and coordinate the resources needed to complete them efficiently.\nProvide site coordination support on higher-complexity projects, including subcontractor coordination, project administration, and conflict resolution.\nReview contract terms and conditions and help assess scope impacts from client bulletins, field directives, and scheduling changes.\nSupport change order activity and assist in identifying opportunities for additional work.\nAssist with schedule of values development on projects that require detailed billing.\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with contractors, clients, consultants, and subcontractors in the community.\nEnsure work performed by Johnson Controls staff and subcontractors meets legal requirements and the highest ethical standards.\nPrepare and deliver clear performance expectations, reviews, and development plans for direct reports.\nHire, retain, coach, and develop team members while supporting branch training initiatives.\nHow You Will Do It\nYou will own outcomes with accountability, safety, and integrityby setting clear expectations, following through on commitments, and reinforcing safe work practices every day.\nYou will stay close to the work and remove obstacles for customersby coordinating resources, supporting lead systems specialists, and helping projects move forward without unnecessary delay.\nYou will improve every day through candor and problem-solvingby coaching teams, addressing issues early, and supporting practical solutions that keep work accurate, on time, within budget, and within scope.\nYou will win as one teamby partnering with system technicians, system designers, lead systems specialists, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to deliver consistent results.\nUse clear communication and sound judgment when translating technical information for non-technical stakeholders.\nWork collaboratively across branch operations to keep project execution aligned with safety, ethics, and customer expectations.\nQualifications\nTechnical associate’s degree with six years of field experience, or eight years of equivalent related field and site coordination experience in the HVAC industry.\nRelevant hands-on experience in systems design and commissioning of digital HVAC controls systems.\nAbility to communicate technical material clearly to a non-technical audience.\nPrevious supervisory experience.\nSolid coaching and interpersonal skills.\nKnowledge of control theory and HVAC systems.\nKnowledge of project accounting, costing principles, and contracting.\nAbility to review and interpret contract terms and conditions and support site coordination activities on complex projects.\nWhy Join Us\nThis is an opportunity to lead a technically skilled team, support important HVAC controls work, and help deliver projects that matter to customers and communities.
