Our product line includes large-scale equipment such as air handling units and modular data centers. We pride ourselves on innovation, quality, and delivering tailored solutions to meet our clients' unique needs.\nPosition Overview:\nAs part of the Equipment Design Engineering (EDE) team, the Design Standards Coordinator is responsible for the development, governance, maintenance, and continuous improvement of equipment design engineering standards, drafting practices, and related documentation.\nThis role serves as the central authority for design standardization across mechanical, electrical, and multi-discipline EDE teams, ensuring consistent, compliant, manufacturable, and scalable design execution across products and projects.\nThe Design Standards Coordinator works closely with engineering leadership, designers, manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and sustaining engineering to align standards with production realities, regulatory requirements, and best-in-class engineering practices. The focus of the role is standards governance, practical application, and continuous improvement-reducing rework, eliminating ambiguity, and improving cross-team alignment.\nKey Responsibilities:\n1) Design Standards & Governance\nOwn and maintain EDE design standards, guidelines, templates, and best-practice documentation (drawings, models, BOMs, naming conventions, and documentation structure).\nEnsure standards align with regulatory requirements, internal engineering policies, and manufacturing constraints.\nServe as the subject-matter expert for interpretation and application of EDE design standards.\nEnsure alignment with corporate and external standards (CSA, ASME Y14, ISO, ANSI, and internal Silent-Aire standards).\nGovern updates through defined review, approval, and communication processes.\nLead periodic reviews to address gaps, inefficiencies, and recurring design issues.\nSupport change management activities for new or revised standards, including communication and rollout. \n2) Standards Implementation & Compliance\nAct as an EDE contact for standards interpretation and application.\nReview design and drafting outputs (as needed or on a sampling basis) for standards compliance.\nSupport Design Review and CoLab processes from a standards-compliance perspective.\nIdentify recurring non-conformances and drive corrective actions through clarification or updates to standards.\nMaintain and track EDE VAVE initiatives, coordinating with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Finance to validate cost reductions and ensure reported savings are accurate, measurable, and supported by appropriate data. \n3) Cross - Functional Coordination\nCoordinate standards alignment between EDE and Design Engineering (DE) to ensure consistency across construction packages, submittals, and drawings.\nCollaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Sustaining Engineering to incorporate manufacturability, inspection, and lifecycle feedback into standards.\nSupport peer reviews and standards interpretation without acting as a design authority or engineer of record. \n4) Continuous Improvement\nIdentify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and reduce complexity in drawings, BOMs, and documentation.\nSupport the development of standard parts, modules, and design patterns.\nCapture lessons learned and integrate them into standards, guidelines, and training materials.\n5) Training & Enablement\nDevelop and maintain training materials related to EDE design standards.\nSupport onboarding and upskilling of engineers and designers on standards, tools, and expectations.\nAct as a subject-matter resource for standards-related questions across EDE.\nWhat You Will Do:\nConsistent application of EDE design standards across drawings, models, and BOMs.\nReduced rework and improved alignment between DE, EDE, and Manufacturing.\nClear, usable, and adopted standards (not shelfware).\nImproved design quality, clarity, and scalability of EDE deliverables.\nFaster onboarding and stronger design execution through improved documentation and training.\nServe as the single source of truth for EDE standards interpretation.\nTrack VAVE initiatives and coordinate with key stakeholders to validate and accurately report realized cost savings.\nWhat we are looking for:\nDiploma or Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.\nExperience in equipment design, drafting, or engineering support within a manufacturing environment.\nStrong working knowledge of engineering drawing standards and documentation best practices (e.g., ASME Y14).\nExperience with 3D CAD and PLM systems (e.g., Creo, Windchill).\nStrong attention to detail and ability to apply standards consistently.\nClear communicator capable of working effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.\nStrong understanding of VAVE principles and initiatives, including cost-reduction opportunities and savings tracking.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience in HVAC or industrial equipment manufacturing.\nPrior involvement in standards development, governance, or process improvement.\nFamiliarity with ECR/ECM change management processes.\nExperience supporting design reviews or audit-type activities.\nHIRING SALARY RANGE: $87,000 - $131,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
