You will implement plans based on recent safety audit results and will ensure that our Health and Safety management system is implemented to meet legislation requirements. Responsibilities also will include training employees in environment, health and safety management best practices, assisting with hazard identification and control, development of safe work procedures, identifying, developing, and delivering safety training, providing day-to-day guidance and expert advice on a variety of topics.\nHow you will do it\nDemonstrate leadership and provides direction to line management regarding the development and implementation of the organization’s environment, health and safety management system.\nProvide on-floor guidance and mentorship to line management regarding safe work practices and behaviors.\nProvide on-floor guidance and support for environmental compliance regarding waste management, Non-Title V Air permit conditions, and water discharge, and other programs as needed.\nComplete and apply Hazard and Risk Assessments.\nIncident investigation management including the identification of Root Cause Analysis and the suggestion of Corrective and Preventative actions.\nManagement of occupational injury claims including return to work planning.\nManagement OSHA 300-300A logs.\nPerform audits on the organizations Health and Safety Management System.\nConduct and facilitate employee orientations and training.\nMaintain records of employee safety training, and the efficacy of the programs. \nPlan, organize, implement, oversee, and provide technical assistance for projects to resolve safety issues and reduce the risk of injury and occupational illness.\nKeep abreast of latest development in the field of OSHA management systems by reviewing of technical publications, attending technical conferences or professional society meetings, and discussion with industry representatives.\nProvide technical environment, health, and safety informational support for employees and management.\nIdentify company safety, health or environmental compliance issues and create appropriate solutions.\nCoordinate with management/Human Resources to ensure that unsafe employee behavior is corrected in a timely manner\nWork with new products and procedures to identify potential issues and ensure ongoing safety.\nCirculate health, safety, and environment awareness materials.\nWhat we look for\nRequired:\nBachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science or a certificate in Health and Safety or an equivalent education and experience.\nMinimum of three (3) years of Environment, Health and Safety experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.\nStrong knowledge of current OSHA and EPA laws and regulations.\n\nStrong knowledge of state Environmental laws and regulations.\nFamiliarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.\nProficiency using Microsoft Office.\nEffective people skills, including negotiation and ability to influence without authority.\nInductive reasoning skills to create workplace safety resolutions.\nAbility to identify developmental needs of employees and to provide coaching, mentoring, and other help.\nStrong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to safety.\nPolitically and culturally sensitive.\nEffective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.\nAbility to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, local and government safety agencies.\nMust be available for 1st Shift Hours (Mon - Fri: 7AM-4PM/7:30AM-4:30PM/8AM-5PM) or Swing shift (10 am - 6 pm/11am-7pm/12PM - 8PM/1PM-9PM)\nMust be available for On-Call schedule\nAble to work in office, production, and outside conditions as needed\nPreferred:\nProfessional designation such as CSP, ASP, GSP, CIH or a similar certification.\nOSHA 30-hour training for General Industry\nHazWoper certification\nDOT certification\nRCRA certification\nExperience in gathering and compilation of Health, Safety, and Environmental data and report preparation.\nBilingual (Spanish)\nJohnson Controls International plc. is an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, protected veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a qualified individual with a disability or any other characteristic protected by law.
