This will include assisting with hazard identification and the development of safe work procedures, identifying, developing, and delivering safety training supplements, and providing day-to-day guidance and advice.\nYou will provide EHS solutions to managers, supervisors, and employees for all shop activities, recommend strategic direction and implement plans based on recent EHS audit results, and ensure that policies and programs meet legislated requirements.\nHow you will do it\nTake responsibility for any necessary action to maintain overall safe practices and procedures, including the cessation of an unsafe operating procedure.\nLiaise with production to ensure all manufacturing activities are conducted according to company Health and Safety policies and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety regulations.\nConduct EHS inspections to ensure all equipment and buildings owned or operated by the company comply with safety and fire regulations and any other provincial or federal regulations.\nEnhance, maintain, and present EHS procedures and policies for existing employees and visitors as required.\nProvide necessary training, leadership, organization, and control to meet the company’s goal of zero accidents.\nWork with operations leaders to investigate accidents thoroughly and effectively, and then respond appropriately as required, including assisting with liability determination and causation, resolution of open claims, communicating to, training, and following up with supervisors and employees, and recommending and implementing corrective action plans where applicable.\nMonitor safety performance of each worker and report safety violations to operations leadership where applicable.\nMonitor and measure effectiveness of all EHS programs and documentation required as part of compliance with local regulations.\nWork closely with the joint EHS committee and all levels of management to ensure safety and compliance is observed at all levels.\nWork closely with the EHS Manager and Training and Development team to develop manuals, policies, and procedures for training and safe work practices to be implemented.\nConduct effective job hazard and ergonomics analysis of the workplace and for all work centers, including capturing photos of non-compliances.\nPerform all duties in accordance with Silent-Aire Limited Partnership safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.\nBe part of a regularly schedule on call rotation with fellow EHS professionals to provide support on nights and weekends at our facilities.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nWhat we look for\nRequired:\nBachelor’s degree or Occupational Health and Safety certificate or equivalent\nAble to build and maintain lasting relationships with employees, other departments, supervisors, and external stakeholders through effective communication skills\nExperience with accident investigation, workplace inspection, and job hazard analysis\nDiplomatic, with strong morals and ethics, and a commitment to health and safety\nUnderstanding of current legislation, Codes of Practice and other safe work practice requirements and recommendations\nExperience in the gathering and compilation of data, and preparation of reports\nAbility to identify developmental needs of employees and to provide coaching, mentoring, and other help\nAttention to detail in all areas of work\nAble to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines\nCollaborative, flexible, team approach\nAbility to work with minimal supervision\nPresentation, written, and verbal skills\nComputer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook\nIndustrial plant environment - on shop floor at least 50% of time\nAvailable for on-call rotation for nights and weekends\nPreferred:\nFirst Aid responder certificate\nAdditional Job Description\nHIRING SALARY RANGE: $85,000-95,000 CAD (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
