We pride ourselves on innovation, quality, and delivering tailored solutions to meet our clients' unique needs.\nPosition Overview:\nThe Senior Electrical Equipment Designer is a technical subject-matter expert within the Equipment Design Engineering (EDE) department, responsible for leading the execution of complex electrical designs for OEM equipment used in data center and mission-critical applications.\nThis role goes beyond drafting execution and includes technical ownership, cross-discipline coordination, mentoring, and drawing quality leadership. The Senior Electrical Designer ensures electrical designs are code-compliant, manufacturable, standardized, and production-ready, while actively contributing to continuous improvement of EDE electrical design practices and standards.\nKey Responsibilities:\nWhat you will do:\nLead the development of complex electrical layouts and detailed production drawings for OEM equipment, including power distribution, control panels, enclosures, conduit routing, grounding, and cable management.\nServe as a technical authority for electrical design execution within EDE projects.\nEnsure designs comply with CEC, NEC, UL, CSA, customer, and internal EDE electrical standards.\nCoordinate closely with mechanical designers and engineers to ensure proper integration, access, serviceability, and clash-free layouts.\nDrive Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Safety, and electrical installation best practices into all designs.\nLead and participate in design reviews, DXF overlays, and drawing quality checks prior to release.\nSupport and mentor junior electrical designers, providing guidance on standards, methods, and best practices.\nInvestigate and resolve manufacturing issues, NCRs, and field feedback related to electrical design.\nContribute to the development, refinement, and adoption of EDE electrical design standards, templates, and best practices.\nSupport engineering change requests (ECRs) and continuous improvement initiatites.\nInterface with Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, and Project Engineering to resolve build issues and improve design robustness.\nDesign Execution & Working Approach:\nExecute electrical designs using PTC Creo and EDE-approved tools and workflows.\nApply standardized electrical parts, installation methods, and documentation practices.\nIndependently manage the electrical scope on projects with minimal supervision.\nFollow EDE processes for drawing release, document control, and revision management.\nMaintain clear, accurate, and well-structured documentation to support production and service.\nCollaborate effectively in a multi-discipline EDE environment.\nWhat we are looking for:\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, OR a Technical/Associate Degree or Diploma with equivalent experience.\n5 + years of experience in equipment design, manufacturing engineering, or DFM-focused roles.\nSenior-level experience delivering production-ready OEM equipment designs and drawings.\nProficiency in PTC Creo, with working knowledge of Windchill PLM and SAP.\nWorking knowledge of electrical codes and standards (CEC, NEC, UL, CSA).\nDemonstrated ability to independently solve complex technical problems and drive alignment across stakeholders.\nExperience supporting manufacturing builds, issue resolution, and design changes.\nStrong communication skills and ability to clearly document and defend technical decisions.\nExperience in wire harness development and implementation, including harness routing, electrical schematics, connector and component selection, BOM development, manufacturing documentation, and production support.\nDevelop standardized, manufacturable electrical designs that improve installation consistency, quality, and equipment reliability.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience in HVAC, data center equipment, enclosures, modular systems, or large-scale industrial equipment.\nFamiliarity with rate-driven or high-volume manufacturing environments.\nExposure to power distribution, control panels, and industrial equipment wiring.\nProfessional designation or eligibility is an asset.\nWhy Join Johnson Controls / Silent - Aire\nJoin a team where your engineering expertise directly impacts product performance, manufacturability, and customer success.
