This role is accountable for quality, timeliness, and efficiency while developing complex software programs, commissioning systems, and solving operational issues. In this role, you will work at customer sites to install, program, configure, commission, and service fire alarm and fire suppression systems, including Simplex, Fike, Kidde, Inergen, Sapphire, FM-200, and CO2.\nRole Overview\nThis position is responsible for supporting fire alarm and fire suppression projects from installation through commissioning and service. You will coordinate with project managers, customers, and other trades to keep work moving safely, on schedule, and in line with customer expectations.\nKey Responsibilities\nInstall, program, configure, commission, and service fire alarm and fire suppression systems at customer sites.\nExecute projects on time and within allocated installation hours.\nWork with the project manager to resolve discrepancies and coordination issues that affect installation activities.\nRead and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software and system programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.\nCoordinate installation activities with other trades to optimize installation time and maintain site progress.\nAttend required site meetings and support project execution with clear communication.\nTrain customers on system operation, conduct simulations, and respond to functional questions.\nProvide excellent customer service through consistent communication with district staff and customers.\nComplete project documentation accurately and in a timely manner.\nFollow OSHA and SimplexGrinnell safety policies and procedures at all times.\nParticipate in an on-call rotation and perform other duties as assigned.\nHow You Will Do It\nOwn the outcomeby working safely, accurately, and with accountability from installation through commissioning and service.\nStay close to the workby identifying issues early, coordinating directly with the project manager, and removing obstacles that slow down site progress.\nImprove every dayby using practical problem-solving, documenting clearly, and learning from each project to raise quality and consistency.\nWin as one teamby collaborating with customers, district staff, and other trades with trust, respect, and clear communication.\nBalance multiple projects at once while maintaining attention to detail, safety, and customer satisfaction.\nUse your technical knowledge to translate drawings, manuals, and system details into reliable field execution.\nQualifications\nHigh school diploma or equivalent.\nThree or more years of documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems.\nExperience reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational or product manuals.\nExperience using hand tools, test equipment, a multi-meter, a digital analyzer, and commissioning devices.\nAbility to obtain and retain licenses required by national, state, and local codes.\nAbility to perform physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.\nAbility to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, including ladders, scaffolding, high lift equipment up to 40 feet, ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings.\nAbility to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements.\nStrong customer service skills and the ability to lead and work well with team members.\nAbility to follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.\nStrong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to learn quickly.\nValid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company requirements.\nAbility to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.\nAbility to travel overnight when required.\nNice to Have\nNICET Level II certification.\nLocal state licenses.\nKnowledge of local fire codes.\nWhy Join Us\nWe offer competitive starting pay, paid training, tuition reimbursement, global advancement opportunities, and a company vehicle where applicable.
