The Forklift Operator is also responsible for loading and unloading trucks, conducting minor maintenance work, assisting with inventory documentation, and supporting full adherence to safety compliance regulations.\nRoles & Responsibilities\nOperate lifting devices, i.e. forklifts, hoists, elevating platforms, lift beams and swivel hooks. \nConfirm inventory transactions are complete. \nManually load and unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, cars, and lifting devices. \nPut away received materials to proper storage locations. \nAbility to readily determine the correct tools and equipment needed to do a job. \nAccurately ship and receive product. \nMay perform other activities such as assisting in taking inventory and weighing/checking materials. \nSupport inventory control with accurate documentation. \nPerform routine maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment. \nAccurately weigh and document materials. \nParticipate in clean-up of yard and facility. \nPerform all duties in accordance with Silent-Aire Limited Partnership safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and Code. \nPerform other duties as assigned. \nKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities\nMinimum of 2 years’ experience working as a forklift operator in a warehouse/shipping environment with a valid forklift operator license. \nKnowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures. \nAbility to work independently. \nAble to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. \nKnowledge of safe lifting and handling techniques. \nMust be able to carry and move equipment and/or supplies in excess of 40 lbs. \nWorking Conditions\nExercise caution, as the environment presents many naturally occurring hazards. \nAlways adhere to safety policies (wear protective equipment). \nEmployee may be exposed to uncomfortable work settings such as cold or hot weather outdoors; may have combinations of standing, crouching, or sitting throughout the day. \nFast-paced environment. \nOvertime as required. \nContacts\nCommunication is primarily internal to the assigned work team, the Inventory and Materials Supervisors, and Production andPlant Management. \nJohnson Controls’ Canadian subsidiaries are committed to providing reasonable accommodation to applicants, candidates and employees with disabilities, in accordance with applicable human rights legislation, and in Ontario, in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (“AODA”).
