Today, our company continues to lead the industry, offering innovative cooling technologies that support the infrastructure of the digital economy.\nPosition Summary\nThe Journeyperson Welder performs skilled welding and metal fabrication work in accordance with technical drawings, specifications and applicable standards. This role is responsible for fabricating custom prototypes, production parts, jigs, fixtures and metal structures to meet customer and quality requirements within a fast-paced production environment. The Journeyperson Welder works collaboratively with Supervisors and Lead Hands to support continuous improvement initiatives, achieve production targets and ensure welding is completed to established parameters using GMAW, FCAW and GTAW processes.\nRoles and Responsibilities\nRead, interpret and apply engineering drawings, blueprints, welding symbols and welding procedure specifications to ensure components are manufactured as designed and suitable for their intended application. \nSet up and operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment to join metal components using GTAW, GMAW, FCAW and SMAW processes in accordance with approved procedures and quality standards. \nPerform flame-cutting and thermal cutting operations using manual or semi-automatic equipment as required. \nOperate metal fabrication and forming equipment, including brakes, shears and straightening and bending machines. \nRepair, rebuild and modify metal components by welding additional material or reinforcing existing structures. \nComplete inspections, repairs, alterations and retrofit work to ensure structural integrity and compliance with specifications. \nMonitor materials and parts usage and report shortages, defects or quality concerns. \nRoles and Responsibilities Continued\nEnsure assigned tasks and projects are completed accurately, efficiently and within established timelines. \nMaintain accurate and detailed records and documentation. \nMaintain current knowledge of welding technologies, codes, compliance requirements and industry best practices. \nTrain, direct and support junior employees and apprentices and inspect and certify work quality as required. \nParticipate and adhere to shop hygiene, housekeeping and 5S Program. \nPerform all duties in accordance with Silent-Aire safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and Code. \nOther duties may be assigned as deemed necessary. \nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities\nSound knowledge of welding theory, metallurgy and the effects of heat on various base and filler materials used in manufacturing environments. \nAbility to read, interpret and apply welding symbols, blueprints, shop drawings and welding procedure specifications (WPS). \nStrong understanding of dimensional tolerances, fit-up requirements and production quality standards. \nAbility to perform visual inspections of welds and fabricated components, identifying defects, non-conformances and quality issues. \nMechanical aptitude with the ability to safely set up, adjust and troubleshoot welding and fabrication equipment. \nDemonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure production environment while effectively managing multiple competing priorities. \nStrong verbal and written communication detail to ensure accuracy and quality of work. \nEducation and Work Experience\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent. \nValid Alberta Journeyperson Welder Certificate. \nRed Seal endorsement is considered an asset. \nAbility to obtain and maintain applicable Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) certifications, including CSA W47.1 and/or W47.2. \nCurrent or previous certification in GMAW, FCAW and SMAW processes in all positions is considered an asset, with certification maintained as operationally required. \nValid welding certification, Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), 47.1 flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), certified in all positions, as needed. \nDemonstrated experience working within standardized manufacturing processes, quality control systems and production workflows. \nExperience performing routine preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting of welding and fabrication equipment. \nProven experience reading and interpreting blueprints, shop drawings and welding procedure specifications (WPS). \nWorking Conditions\nRequired to work in a manufacturing environment that may involve exposure to noise, moving machinery, varying temperatures and other production-related hazards. \nRequired to use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure to hazardous materials and excessive noise levels in the workplace. \nMust have the physical ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 35 lbs. \nMust have the ability to stand for extended periods throughout each shift. \nManual dexterity is required to effectively operate tools and equipment. \nOvertime may be available occasionally with work volume. \nOccasional travel to off-site locations may be required. \nContacts\nCommunication is
