As a global leader in smart, healthy, and sustainable solutions, we help organisations improve efficiency, enhance safety, optimise energy consumption, and reduce environmental impact across a wide range of industries, including healthcare, education, infrastructure, commercial real estate, manufacturing, and government.\nWith more than 140 years of innovation and a presence in over 150 countries, Johnson Controls combines world-class technology with deep industry expertise to create smarter, safer, and more connected environments.\nAbout the Opportunity\nDue to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join our Sydney team.\nThis is a strategic and hands-on procurement role with responsibility for sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract negotiations, cost optimisation, and procurement governance across a diverse portfolio of projects and service operations.\nWorking with both local and international suppliers, you will play a critical role in ensuring our teams have access to the right products, services, and subcontractors to successfully deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.\nThis role is ideal for a commercially astute procurement professional who enjoys driving value, influencing business outcomes, building strong supplier partnerships, and delivering tangible cost and operational improvements.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead sourcing and procurement activities across project and service operations.\nManage the RFQ process in accordance with Johnson Controls and customer requirements.\nEvaluate supplier submissions and identify the best sourcing solutions based on cost, quality, risk, and delivery performance.\nNegotiate and manage long-term pricing agreements and contracts across Security, HVAC, Refrigeration, BMS, and subcontracted services.\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and procurement priorities.\nManage purchasing activities with local and international suppliers, including order placement, expediting deliveries, and supplier coordination.\nAct as the primary liaison between suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve procurement-related issues.\nMonitor supplier performance against service, quality, delivery, and commercial metrics and implement improvement initiatives where required.\nDrive procurement savings initiatives and improve the transparency and traceability of purchasing outcomes.\nSupport achievement of business objectives relating to cost savings, supplier rationalisation, quality, and working capital.\nManage supplier onboarding, vendor registration, periodic supplier evaluations, and associated compliance activities.\nResolve issues relating to order discrepancies, delivery schedules, pricing changes, and contractual matters.\nMaintain awareness of industry trends, market conditions, and procurement best practices.\nWhat We're Looking For\nBachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.\nMinimum 8 years' experience in procurement, purchasing, strategic sourcing, contracts, or supply chain management.\nStrong commercial negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.\nExperience managing budgets, cost control initiatives, and procurement reporting.\nKnowledge of procurement governance, contract management, and relevant legal considerations.\nExperience within the technology, construction, engineering, facilities management, or industrial sectors will be highly regarded.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.\nExcellent written, verbal, and stakeholder engagement skills.\nHigh attention to detail and strong organisational skills.\nSelf-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.\nResults-driven, adaptable, and focused on continuous improvement.\nProficiency across the Microsoft Office suite.\nWhy Join Johnson Controls?\nJoin a global organisation at the forefront of smart and sustainable building technologies.\nPlay a key role in delivering projects that make buildings safer, more efficient, and environmentally responsible.\nWork within a collaborative and supportive team environment.\nAccess ongoing professional development, training, and career progression opportunities.\nBe part of a business that values innovation, continuous improvement, and employee success.\nEligibility\nApplicants must have the right to work in Australia.\nSuccessful candidates will be required to complete pre-employment checks, including a medical assessment, criminal history check, and drug and alcohol screening.\nInterested?
