The position provides engineering support for product development, warranty, sales and pressure vessel manufacturing.\nThe individual conducts ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and other related design calculations and is typically a member of several cross functional product development teams. The individual has a good understanding of ASME and International Pressure Vessel Design standards and is skilled in stress analysis techniques. Experience with FEA tools for application to stress analysis is desired.\nHow you will do it:\nProvide analysis for optimizing designs for chiller components including pressure vessels.\nProvide analysis support for ASME pressure vessel certification of JCI products.\nProvide analysis support for Canadian Pressure Vessel Registration (CRN).\nDevelop field modification procedures for pressure vessels.\nPlan, schedule, coordinate bi-yearly updates to ASME pressure vessel calculations.\nReview patents and papers to understand the limits of technology and IP in the industry.\nProvide root-cause analysis relating to warranty/service cases.\nProvide technical leadership, mentorship and training to developing engineers\nRequired Qualification:\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The individual must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in the form of design reports and presentations. The ability to work with a team of engineers on fast paced projects and an understanding of the product development process (PDP) is a requirement.\nBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET accredited). An MS in an engineering discipline is a plus. A Professional Engineer’s license is also a plus.\nMinimum of 4 years of experience in ASME pressure vessel or heat exchanger design. Experience in the HVAC industry is a plus.\nGood understanding of applicable pressure vessel design and test standards, including those of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), The Canadian Standards Organization (CSA), The European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), American Petroleum Institute (API), Tubular Exchanger Manufactures Association (TEMA).\nFamiliarity with other applicable codes and standards, such as: ASHRAE-15, ASCE-7, ASME B31, ASME PCC, NBIC, UL 207, UL 60335-2-40.\nExperienced in the use of finite element analysis (FEA), particularly ANSYS Mechanical or equivalent.\nKnowledgeable in pressure vessel and/or equipment manufacturing.\nSkilled in the use of Microsoft Office software, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint\nSome travel will be required.\nApplicants for employment in the US must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States and with Johnson Controls.\nAdditional Skills:\nKnowledgeable in the use of analysis software, particularly: ANSYS and Compress.\nKnowledgeable in the use of programming languages such as Python, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), and/or C#\nExperience with MATLAB and Simulink software is a plus.\nHIRING SALARY RANGE: $85,000 - $110,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
