This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in the manufacturing industry. You will work under the guidance of experienced professionals while developing essential skills in fit up, fabrication and welding.\nWhat you will do\nYou will be responsible for the local delivery and execution of the fit up, fabrication and core welding to vendors and managers in accordance with Johnson Controls principles, corporate policies and procedures, and plant operations. You will perform a variety of employment related functions for the ultimate purpose of enhancing employee engagement, safety and health, productivity and ensuring employee compliance with Company policies in a manufacturing facility.\nHow you will do it\nFitter Welder Apprentice will have the ability to apply minimum of 6 months of MIG welding experience into product.\nOperate Miller Aluma Pro Mig gun. Successfully apply fit up, fabricate, and weld discipline into standard models.\nOperate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding)and Plasma Cutter.\nOperate manual and semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.\nMaintain safe work practices.\nConduct technical inspections.\nPrepare input for various management and log reports.\nRead and review blueprints and specifications; ensure drawings and specifications will function as designed in environment intended for use.\nEnsure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.\nKeep detailed and accurate reports and documentation.\nMaintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance, and repair/rework techniques.\nComplete motor coupling installations\nParticipate in training program as trainee/trainer as required.\nPractice and promote 5S throughout facility.\nParticipate in Kaizen events.\nOther assigned work as required.\nWhat we look for\nHave successfully passed 2G plate welding test and 6G short arc pipe welding test within Johnson Controls - San Antonio\nThe use of various hand tools, machinery and equipment will be required to manufacture metal\nStandard blueprint knowledge\nThis position will work with supervisors and leadman to ensure continuous improvements in work cells, hitting quotas, welding according to pre-set parameters using GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) welding processes\nThe ability to scan in and out of work orders is a must\nProven knowledge and skill in operating all metalworking machinery\nAbility to read and understand production drawings, blueprints, work orders and other written instructions\nRequired:\nMinimum of 6 months of MIG Alloy and Steel welding experience\nFollow Operation Description Sheet (ODS) and Training Documents\nHigh School Diploma, GED or certifications\nFollow All Safety Policies and Protocols\nQuality Orientation\nTime Management\nPositivity- energetic and wants other to succeed\nCreative and Innovative Thinking\nDevelopment and Continual Learning\nProblem Solving\nAccountability and Dependability\nResearch and Analysis\nDecision Making and Judgement\nOperating Equipment\nEthics and Integrity\nPlanning and Organizing\nMathematical Reasoning\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills\nTeamwork\nAbility to give and receive feedback effectively\nStrong attention to detail\n\nPreferred:\nWelding technical school certification\nGMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) welding experience\nTig welding experience\n(1+) years’ experience as a welder\nExperience with routine maintenance operations\nHighly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in diverse working environments\nAble to work well under pressure\nAble to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally always\n\n HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $21.50 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
