Working within a cross-functional team, you will help translate clinical needs into effective engineering solutions while supporting products throughout their lifecycle.\nYou will be responsible for\nSupport the design and development of new implants, surgical instrumentation and existing products.\nCollaborate with R&D, healthcare professionals, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Marketing and other cross-functional partners to define product and design requirements.\nSupport the development of engineering concepts, drawings, prototypes and Design Control documentation.\nContribute to mechanical testing, verification and validation activities.\nSupport product development and documentation in compliance with MDR, FDA Design Controls and applicable quality requirements.\nParticipate in clinician interactions to support product development, improvements and modifications.\nSupport design and process changes, production transfers, cost-improvement initiatives and quality/compliance activities.\nParticipate in complaint and field investigations supporting patient and customer safety.\nQualifications and Requirements\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field; Mechanical Engineering preferred.\nAt least 6 months of experience in mechanical product design and development, including internship, co-op or academic research experience.\nKnowledge of CAD tools such as Creo/ProE, mechanical design, manufacturing processes and GD&T is preferred.\nKnowledge of medical device development, Design Controls, GMP, QSR and ISO requirements is an advantage.\nKnowledge of biomechanics, anatomy and/or biology is an advantage.\nStrong problem-solving, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.\nWillingness to work with wet tissue/cadaver specimens and in an operating room environment is required.\nBusiness-fluent English is required; German is preferred for German-speaking sites.\nJohnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes.
