Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/.\nYou will be joining a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to the development and digitalization of process models used in the manufacturing operations of a diverse range of pharmaceutical products. As an intern, you will contribute to research leveraging techniques such as process modeling, statistical analysis, and data engineering, to advance our digital capability and ensure product quality.\nKey Responsibilities:\nYou will contribute to our ongoing activities focused on modeling film coating operation for synthetics drug products. The project is designed to deepen our mechanistic understanding of the operation, accelerate technical transfer, and provide a better control of the production. You will be responsible for one or more of the following areas: upgrading existing models, applying models to the real-world data, evaluating model performance and building user-friendly apps for the models.\nTypical day-to-day activities for this position can include:\nConduct literature review\nTranslate physical and chemical understanding into mathematical formulations\nDevelop model upgrades and embed them into existing codes\nPerform data extraction and curation from multi-sourced datahubs or documents\nConvert models to apps and deploy them on designated platforms\nDocumentation of all the activities\nInteracting with business partners and cross-functional researchers in English.\nQualifications:\nRequired:\nEnrolled in a bachelor, master or doctorate degree program with a strong Chemical Engineering, Biological & Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanic Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or equivalent background\nLegally authorized to work in China and not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future\nProficiency in Python (incl. pandas, pydantic, scipy, etc), or other programming languages\nMastering algebraic knowledge and knowledge of ordinary differential equations (ODEs)\nSelf-motivated, productive, and possessing excellent scientific problem-solving skills\nAbility to work both independently and collaboratively within a multicultural team environment, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Chinese\nPreferred:\nExperience with modeling a physicochemical phenomenon through knowledge- or
