This role requires a deep understanding of biosafety protocols, regulatory compliance, and standard methodologies in laboratories, production areas and environmental safety.\nKey Responsibilities:\nBiosafety Management:\nCo-develop, implement, and maintain the biosafety management program.\n\nConduct risk assessments and develop biosafety protocols for handling biological materials.\n\nImplement training programs for staff on biosafety practices and procedures.\n\nSupervise compliance with relevant local regulations and Johnson & Johnson (J&J) guidelines.\n\nEnvironmental Health and Safety:\nCollaborate with the EHS team to develop and implement policies for a safe working environment.\n\nCoordinate, control, develop, and improve EHS systems, processes, and practices.\n\nLead and support the implementation of EHS standards/systems within areas of expertise.\n\nParticipate in hazard assessments, internal and external audits, and inspections related to EHS (e.g., ISO 14001).\n\nRespond to incidents, participate in investigations, and provide recommendations for corrective actions.\n\nRegulatory Compliance:\nEnsure compliance with local and J&J regulations regarding biosafety & biosecurity, and environmental health & safety.\n\nMaintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and regulations and their application in the workplace.\n\nPrepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies.\n\nCollaboration and Communication:\nServe as contact for biosafety and EHS-related inquiries and concerns.\n\nMentor and develop teams of Standards Owners, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and EHS representatives.\n\nCollaborate with researchers, laboratories, operations and other partners to foster a culture of safety.\n\nDevelop and present educational materials and training on biosafety and EHS topics.\n\nDriven to search for practical biosafety solutions which are compliant with local, national codes and J&J Standards.\n\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Biology or relevant field, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or a related field (Master’s preferred).\n\nMinimum of 5 years of experience in Biosafety, EHS, or bioscience lab / production environment, with progressive responsibility.\n\nCertified Biosafety Officer (Biologische Veiligheidsfunctionaris who is registered at BGGO)\n\nStrong understanding of relevant regulations and standards in biosafety and EHS, including experience with ISO 14001 (preferred).\n\nExcellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, proficient in both spoken and written Dutch and English.\n\nConfirmed Ability to work collaboratively in complex organizations and influence diverse partners.\n\nPreferred Skills:\nExperience in laboratory / production and coordination of safety programs.\n\nAdditional qualifications such as Safety Manager Level 3 (“HVK”) and/or Industrial Hygiene (“AH”) are a plus.\n\nRequired Skills:\nPreferred Skills:\nAnalytical Reasoning, Coaching, Communication, Corporate Experience, EHS Compliance, Emergency Planning, Environmental Health And Safety, Environmental Protection, Facility Management, Learning Content Design, Performance Measurement, Problem Solving, Process Improvements, Regulatory Compliance, Risk Assessments, Risk Management, Safety-OrientedThe anticipated base pay range for this position is:\n€64 000,00 - €103 040,00Benefits:\nIn addition to base pay, we offer the following benefits*: an annual bonus with set target (% of pay) depending on pay grade / location, where the actual amount is based on the employees’ and companies’ performance of the previous calendar year, or sales commissions.
