Working under the guidance of experienced Supplier Quality Engineers, the co-op will contribute to supplier performance monitoring, quality data analysis, documentation, investigations, qualification activities, and continuous improvement projects in a regulated medical device environment.\nThis position provides practical experience applying engineering, quality, and problem-solving principles while working with cross-functional teams and suppliers. The co-op is expected to follow company procedures, protect confidential information, and support environmental, health, and safety objectives.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES\nSupport cross-functional Supplier Quality projects in accordance with established procedures and applicable regulatory requirements. \nCollect, organize, analyze, and present supplier quality data, including nonconformance, defect, delivery, audit, and performance information. \nCreate and maintain supplier scorecards, trend charts, trackers, and concise status reports using Excel, PowerPoint, and other approved systems. \nAssist Supplier Quality Engineers with supplier and process qualification records, specifications, inspection plans, control plans, and validation documentation. \nSupport supplier-related nonconformance investigations by gathering evidence, documenting problem statements, reviewing records, and tracking corrective actions. \nParticipate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities using structured problem-solving tools under the direction of a Supplier Quality Engineer. \nAssist with preparation for supplier audits, quality reviews, and supplier meetings; document actions and follow up with assigned owners. \nReview quality records and technical documentation for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with approved requirements. \nHelp identify process variation, recurring defects, overdue actions, and other potential supplier or supply chain risks for team review. \nTrack project schedules, commitments, and due dates; promptly communicate risks, gaps, and support needed. \nCollaborate with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, and other functions to complete assigned work. \nPerform other Supplier Quality and Quality Assurance activities appropriate to the student’s education, experience, and level of supervision. \nQUALIFICATIONS\nCurrently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Engineering, Data Science, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related science or technical field. \nAvailable for the full co-op assignment period and able to work the schedule defined for the position. \nBasic understanding of engineering, manufacturing, statistics, or quality principles through coursework or project experience. \nProficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; ability to organize data and communicate results clearly. \nStrong attention to detail, organization, follow-through, and willingness to learn. \nAbility to work effectively with team members from different functions and backgrounds. \nClear written and verbal communication skills. \nPreferred Qualifications\nCoursework or project experience in quality engineering, statistics, manufacturing processes, mechanical or electrical systems, or medical devices. \nExposure to problem-solving methods such as 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams, Pareto analysis, process mapping, or failure mode and effects analysis. \nExperience analyzing data, creating dashboards, or using statistical or visualization tools. \nInterest in supplier management, regulated products, product development, or manufacturing operations. \nLEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES\nGain hands-on exposure to supplier quality management in a regulated medical device environment. \nBuild skills in quality data analysis, technical documentation, investigation support, supplier performance monitoring, and project management. \nLearn how Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Procurement collaborate to manage supplier and product risk. \nPresent project results and recommendations to Supplier Quality and cross-functional stakeholders. \nSUPERVISION / AUTHORITY\nThis position has no supervisory responsibility. The co-op performs assigned work under close to general supervision, follows defined procedures, and receives regular coaching and review from a Supplier Quality Engineer or Quality Assurance manager. The co-op does not independently approve quality records, make final product disposition decisions, or represent the company as the accountable quality authority.\nADDITIONAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS\nPrimarily onsite in Milpitas, California. \nOccasional local or supplier-site travel may be requested when appropriate and approved. \nAbility to work in office, laboratory, manufacturing, and warehouse environments as required, while following applicable safety and gowning requirements. \nPermanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future.
