Johnstone is growing, and so can you.\nResponsibilities\nThe Driver is responsible for ensuring the safe transporting and arrival of products, in a timely manner, to our customers and other store locations. Responsibilities include driving, route sequencing, order verification, loading and unloading orders into company/customer vehicle, return service, sharing feedback from customers, as well as maintenance, upkeep, and repairs of the company vehicles and warehouse equipment. The Driver position is required to possess a valid drivers’ license at all times and must meet all state and federal driving regulations.\nMaintains positive relationships with customers by providing exceptional service that includes accurate and timely delivery of products.\nServes as a key field contact for gathering accurate customer service and delivery expectations.\nSafely operates company vehicles and equipment consistent with DOT, state, federal, and company standards.\nMaintains cleanliness of inside of truck, cab, box, and all assigned work areas.\nPerforms routine inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned vehicle(s)/equipment; refers defects, issues, or needs for repairs to supervisor promptly.\nLoads and unloads trucks. Checks and verifies deliveries against sales and transfer orders.\nPrepares routes and follows schedules and deadlines for delivery, shipping, receiving, and other related tasks.\nDrives straight body vehicles including box truck to deliver supplies and equipment to customer’s place of business, job site, or other Johnstone store locations.\nMaintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive expedited delivery instructions, utilizing communication methods safely and in accordance with all requirements and expectations.\nImmediately communicates delivery, traffic, safety, and customer issues to supervisor.\nRecord sales and/or delivery information as applicable. Completes manifest with pictures, signatures, and any returns by way of iPad or manual completion. \nReturns vehicle at end of day, verifying it is fully fueled; completes monthly driver log and any associated paperwork; ensures the vehicle is secured. \nReturns gas receipts, monies, vehicle inspection logs, and any other paperwork necessary.\nWhen not driving, shares day-to-day warehouse operations responsibilities as a material handler.\nMay be assigned on-site inventory-related responsibilities at customer site.\nPerforms all other duties as assigned.\nJohnstone Supply believes that each employee’s contribution should not be limited by the assigned responsibilities. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\n\nEducation and/or Experience:\nRequired: High School Diploma/GED; 1+ years of truck driving experience (26 ft vehicle or larger) or 1 year operating Johnstone equipment/vehicles under supervision; or equivalent combination of education and experience.\nPreferred: \n6+ months of experience in a warehouse and/or distribution facility, preferably in HVAC/R or related field.\nExperience with a picker, RF scanner, and inventory management systems.\nExperience driving a forklift.\nKnowledge of HVAC wholesale industry, principles, and practices.\nPrevious experience with OSHA and safety regulations and procedures.\nCertificates, Licenses, and Registrations:\nMust have a valid drivers’ license with a driving record indicating a safe driving history acceptable to the company; must remain eligible at all times to drive a commercial motor vehicle under applicable state and federal laws and FMCSA regulations.\nCDL preferred.\nForklift certification preferred.\nJob Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\nAbility to utilize necessary technology to complete tasks, GPS, mobile Proof of Delivery (POD) devices, RF equipment, and ERP software. Must be able to read a map and mapping applications accurately.\nAbility to read, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.\nAbility to work safely in all job tasks.\nSkill in operation of delivery vehicles and power equipment, including forklift, pallet jack, and cherry picker; ability to operate a lift gate safely and effectively.\nMust be able to lift, push, pull, and maneuver large/heavy products or pieces of equipment while working within established safety guidelines.\nFamiliarity with warehouse or distribution center management systems and order picking processes.\nMust be able to perform all the duties of a Material Handler. Typically, this entails order filling, stock replenishment, will call, and inventory cycle counting.\nAbility to follow instructions and procedures.\nAbility to organize and prioritize work.\nAbility to attend to details.\nAbility to complete routine paperwork.\nAbility to work with others in a team-based environment.\nStrong customer service skills; ability to demonstrate considerable tact and diplomacy in dealing with others and to maintain relationships.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nWhile multilingual skills are valued, English proficiency (written and spoken) is a core requirement for this position due to the nature of the work, safety regulations, and to ensure accurate communication and comprehension.\nPhysical Demand\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, and walk on a concrete floor for much of the workday. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
