We’ve got big goals and we’re ready to achieve them.\nThis is where you come in.\nAs our Lead Database Reliability Engineer, you'll support our products, Timely and SalonBiz, which power over 30,000 wellness businesses across 100 countries. In this role, you’ll lead the reliability, scalability, and performance of the databases and data infrastructure that underpin our SaaS platforms.\nYou’ll work closely with product and engineering teams to deliver secure, innovative, and highly available data solutions that support real-time insights and a stable 24/7 customer experience. This is an opportunity for a technically strong, strategic engineer who is passionate about modern data technologies and building resilient systems at scale.\nWhat you'll do\nDrive data strategy and data practices for how our databases work, scale and are used.\n\nCapacity planning and performance tuning of the database platforms.\n\nCarry out database related project work (e.g. writing migration scripts, procs, DDL etc).\n\nManage high risk data deployments and post-deploy monitoring.\n\nAssist development teams in a consultancy role for identifying risks and proposing solutions around database reliability.\n\nWork with the data team and product teams to constantly improve data operational engineering practices.\n\nMaintain awareness of trends and emerging technologies in relevant fields and propose to Wellness Solutions when fit.\n\nAdvocate for, and apply Devops and SRE principles across Wellness engineering teams.\n\nGrow and mentor other Data professionals.\n\nWhat you'll bring\nStrong ability to work autonomously, prioritise effectively, and make sound technical decisions while knowing when to seek support or collaboration.\n\nDeep expertise in database reliability, performance, and management, with the ability to mentor and coach others.\n\nStrong experience with relational databases, ideally SQL Server and Azure SQL, with exposure to Oracle environments.\n\nAdvanced T-SQL skills and a passion for solving complex data challenges.\n\nExperience with, or willingness to learn, scripting, object-oriented programming, and infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Python, PowerShell, and Terraform.\n\nFocus on delivering scalable, reliable solutions with strong practices across monitoring, alerting, automation, documentation, and knowledge sharing.\n\nExperience working in agile environments using SCRUM and/or Kanban methodologies.\n\nConfident communicator who enjoys collaborating, contributing ideas, and engaging in healthy discussions around data practices and engineering improvements.\n\nResearch shows that while men apply to jobs when they meet ~60% of criteria, women and those in underrepresented groups tend to only apply when they check every box.
