The ideal candidate will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with labour laws and tax regulations, and effective management of payroll systems and processes. The Payroll Manager will work closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors to support organizational goals and ensure employees are paid correctly and on time.\nThe Payroll Manager will report to the Vice President of Human Resources and will lead a team of payroll professionals, oversee payroll-related accounting activities, and play a key role in payroll integration for acquisitions. This position offers a hybrid work environment and requires a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise in North American payroll and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.\nThe expected salary range for this role is between $135K and $150K, depending on experience and qualifications, plus an annual bonus. Note this role is being opened as the current individual will be retiring in Q227 and we require significant overlap for training. AI is used to screen, assess, or select applicants for this role.\nKey Responsibilities:\nPayroll Operations\nOversee full-cycle payroll processing for 3,000+ employees across Canada and the U.S.\nEnsure compliance with federal, provincial/state, and local payroll legislation\nManage payroll calendars, audits, and year-end processes (T4s, W-2s, etc.)\nPartner with Finance on audits, reporting, and accruals\nAcquisitions & Integration\nLead payroll integration for acquisitions\nAssess risks, align systems, and ensure seamless onboarding of new employees\nCompliance & Controls\nMaintain strong internal controls and audit readiness\nEnsure adherence to internal compliance standards\nLeadership\nLead, mentor, and develop a team of 5 payroll staff\nAllocate workload, improve processes, and ensure cross-training\nProcess Improvement\nIdentify automation and efficiency opportunities\nImprove payroll systems, workflows, and reporting\nKey Competencies: \nHas strong attention to detail, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills\n Possesses effective written and oral communication skills\nAccustomed to managing sensitive or confidential information appropriately\nProven ability to multitask and effectively manage competing deadlines\nDemonstrated leadership and decision-making abilities\nRequired Experience: \n8-10+ years of payroll experience, including leadership roles\nDeep knowledge of Canadian and U.S. payroll legislation\nStrong knowledge of payroll accounting (journal entries, reconciliations)\nExperience with ADP and/or Workday an asset\nStrong Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP\nExperience leading and developing teams\nQualifications:\nEducation Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.\n Certifications (Preferred) PCP/PLP (Payroll Compliance Professional / Payroll Leadership Professional - Canada) and/or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional - US)\nBusiness Unit: \nCorporate - HRScheduled Weekly Hours:\n37.5Number of Openings Available: \n1Worker Type: \nRegularMore About Jonas Software:\nJonas Software is a leading provider of enterprise management software solutions, serving a wide range of vertical markets including hospitality, healthcare, construction, education, personal care, fitness, leisure, moving and legal services, to name a few.
