Cleaning Site Manager
Position Overview
The Cleaning Site Manager is responsible for overseeing all cleaning operations at an assigned facility or portfolio of facilities, ensuring high-quality service delivery, client satisfaction, and compliance with health and safety standards. This role requires strong leadership, operational excellence, and the ability to manage teams effectively while maintaining cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management The Site Manager oversees day-to-day cleaning operations, ensuring all contracted services are delivered to specification and quality standards. They conduct regular site inspections, implement quality control procedures, and address any service deficiencies promptly. The role includes developing and maintaining cleaning schedules, managing resource allocation, and ensuring adequate supplies and equipment are available.
Team Leadership This position involves recruiting, training, and supervising cleaning staff, including conducting performance reviews and managing disciplinary procedures when necessary. The Site Manager creates staff rotas, manages attendance and absence, and ensures appropriate staffing levels are maintained. They motivate and develop team members, fostering a positive work environment and promoting professional growth.
Client Relations The Site Manager serves as the primary point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and ensuring satisfaction with cleaning services. They conduct regular client meetings, respond to feedback and complaints professionally, and implement service improvements based on client requirements. The role includes preparing service reports and presenting operational updates to stakeholders.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations is paramount. The Site Manager conducts risk assessments, implements safe working practices, and maintains all required documentation. They ensure staff receive appropriate safety training, manage COSHH regulations, and maintain accident and incident records. The role includes staying current with industry regulations and best practices.
Budget and Cost Management The Site Manager monitors operational costs against budgets, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements without compromising service quality. They manage inventory and supplies cost-effectively, track labor costs, and provide regular financial reports to senior management.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Proven experience managing cleaning operations in a commercial or facilities management environment (minimum 3-5 years)
- Demonstrated experience supervising and leading teams
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and cleaning industry standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and facility management software
- Valid driver's license (if managing multiple sites)
Desirable
- Professional cleaning industry qualification (BICS, COSHH, IOSH, or equivalent)
- Experience in a client-facing role within facilities management
- Budget management experience
- First aid certification
- Understanding of environmental sustainability practices in cleaning operations

Working Conditions
This role typically requires flexibility in working hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends depending on operational needs. The position involves regular site visits requiring physical activity, including walking, standing, and inspecting all areas of facilities. Travel between sites may be required for multi-site portfolios.
