The position will have a strong focus on data center mechanicals, electrical equipment troubleshooting and repairing CE facility equipment, and learning the core functions of an operating engineer.This position is swing shift, Tuesday-Saturday from 3 PM - 11 PM.\nYour day-to-day tasks will include -\nConduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of equipment and systems (e.g., cooling systems, electrical systems, generators, fire suppression, UPS systems) to ensure the smooth operation of the data center. Monitor building management systems and respond to alarms and alerts promptly.\n\nAssist in diagnosing and resolving operational issues in the data center, including electrical, mechanical, and network-related problems. Collaborate with senior engineers to troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement appropriate solutions.\n\nAssist with the installation, configuration, and testing of new equipment. Assist in coordinating equipment upgrades and modifications.\n\nMaintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work performed, materials used, and any changes made. Generate reports on equipment status, incidents, and service requests. Update equipment inventory and documentation as required.\n\nFollow all relevant safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Adhere to regulatory requirements, environmental standards, and company policies. Report any safety concerns or violations to senior staff.\n\nProvide general operational support to the data center team, including maintaining cleanliness and organization, monitoring inventory levels, and assisting with equipment tracking and labeling.\n\nLearn and understand the data center site in-order to manage incidents and events that put the critical systems at risk.\n\nWork order management, including CMMS, Vendor Management, and Customer Facing Tickets.\n\nPerform additional job duties as required.\n\nDesired experience and technical skills -\nRequirements:\nMust be a Member in Good Standing with Local Union, or be willing to become a member upon acceptance by the Union.\n\nHigh School diploma or GED equivalent\n\nDemonstrated verbal/written communication skills.\n\nAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.\n\nAbility to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, or governmental regulations and codes.\n\nAbility to write routine reports and correspondence.\n\nAbility to speak effectively before small groups of tenants or fellow employees\n\nWorking knowledge or the capability of developing proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Access and any other software packages.\n\nMust be able to professionally interact with tenants and contractors.\n\nAbility to traverse large, campus-like settings.\n\nLifting a minimum of 50 lbs.\n\nClimbing stairs and navigating rooftops to access equipment.\n\nUsing ladders up to 30 ft and working from heights.\n\nAbility to Climb a ladder with a 300-lb weight limit.\n\nMust be able to work different schedules.\n\nMust be able to work Holidays.\n\nMust be able to respond to site emergencies.\n\nPreferred:\nExperience with electrical systems, HVAC, and/or critical environments.\n\nThis position does not provide visa sponsorship.
