Senior Finance Manager, Property Management

What this job involves:

As a Senior Finance Manager in Property Management at JLL, you'll serve as a strategic financial partner to property management teams, driving fiscal excellence across a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate assets. This role combines technical accounting expertise with business advisory capabilities, requiring you to deliver accurate financial reporting, sophisticated analysis, and forward-thinking recommendations that enable data-driven decision-making. You'll oversee the complete financial lifecycle for assigned properties-from budgeting and forecasting to monthly close processes and stakeholder reporting-while ensuring compliance with GAAP, client requirements, and internal controls. At JLL, we are collectively shaping a brighter way for our clients, ourselves and our fellow employees, and in this position, you'll be instrumental in delivering financial transparency and insights that strengthen client relationships and optimize property performance. We embrace more innovative ways of working, and you'll have the opportunity to implement process improvements, leverage technology solutions, and mentor finance team members while collaborating closely with property managers, asset managers, and clients to achieve shared business objectives.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes for an assigned portfolio, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of financial statements, variance analysis, and management reports to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Develop comprehensive annual budgets and periodic reforecasts in partnership with property management teams, analyzing revenue opportunities, operating expenses, capital requirements, and cash flow projections
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to property managers and clients through detailed variance analysis, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities that impact property performance and net operating income
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and tenant billing processes, ensuring proper revenue recognition, expense allocation, and compliance with lease terms and client-specific requirements
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and lenders, coordinating audit requests, tax return preparation, and loan compliance reporting while maintaining strong internal controls
  • Implement financial process improvements and best practices that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and client service delivery, leveraging technology platforms and automation tools
  • Mentor and develop junior finance team members, providing technical guidance, quality review, and professional development opportunities that build capability across the team
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with asset management, leasing, operations, and corporate accounting teams to ensure alignment on financial goals, reporting standards, and portfolio strategy
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators, operating metrics, and market trends, preparing executive-level presentations and investment recommendations that inform strategic decision-making

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, with at least 3 years in commercial real estate or property management
  • Advanced proficiency in financial reporting, GAAP accounting principles, and month-end close processes
  • Expert-level skills in Microsoft Excel, including complex financial modeling, pivot tables, and data analysis functions
  • Experience with real estate accounting software platforms (Yardi, MRI, or similar property management systems)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple properties or client accounts simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable business insights
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with experience presenting financial results to senior leadership and external clients

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, MBA, or related advanced degree
  • Experience in a Big Four accounting firm or national property management organization
  • Knowledge of real estate investment structures, partnership accounting, and tax reporting requirements
  • Familiarity with lease accounting standards (ASC 842) and their application in property management contexts
  • Proven track record of implementing process improvements, system implementations, or automation initiatives
  • Experience managing, mentoring, or supervising finance team members
