Together, we are shaping brighter futures and better communities.\nAbout the Position\nAs a Construction Engineering Technician, you will ensure that public works projects comply with local and state regulations and facilitate the successful accomplishment of project goals and objectives.\nDepartment:\nConstruction Engineering/Construction Management\nPosition Type:\nFull Time & Seasonal\nOrganizational Relationships:\nAccountable to, and takes daily direction from, Office Manager, Team Leader, Practice Group Leader \nEffectively communicate and coordinate with Office Management, Construction Engineering Project Managers, Project Managers and all Construction Engineering Team Members\nPrimary Responsibilities:\nIn your role as a Construction Engineering Technician, you will be part of our growing team by performing the functions and duties listed below:\nConstruction Engineering\nResponsible and accountable for assisting in the systematic and consistent on-site management of construction projects that may include construction and/or rehabilitation of public building facilities, roadways, municipal water, wastewater, storm drain and dry utilities and other infrastructure\nResponsible for performing materials testing work in the field and the laboratory as needed. Complete field density testing as required by contract specifications, and local, state, and federal requirements.\nKnowledge of contract requirements, engineering drawings, and standard construction details\nAs directed, prepare concise and accurate reports based on information received from Team Members, contractors, agencies, vendors, and others on-site\nInspect various aspects of construction work and perform continuous observation of assigned construction activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications\nDocument non-conformance and participate in determining appropriate resolution\nParticipate in project related meetings including design coordination, pre-construction, site inspections, job site, punch lists, and final project closeout\nCommunicate regularly with and proactively advise Supervisor, Team Leader, and/or Project Managers of any significant challenge that occurs on projects\nOther\nPractice mindful awareness of your activities and surroundings, and follow all company, OSHA, federal, state, and local health and safety guidelines and requirements\nPerforms other related duties as assigned.\nExperience & Certifications Required:\nAssociate’s Degree or equivalent experience\nBackground in utilities construction/inspections\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\nExcellent interpersonal skills\nSelf-motivated, engaged, and team oriented\nEnergetic and flexible in order to perform in fast-paced environment and resolve challenges\nDemonstrate personal investment in your career\nConfident and forward thinking\nHandle multiple tasks under pressure and prioritize responsibilities\nDemonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication skills\nFamiliarity with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Familiarity or ability to learn Bluebeam, Procore, UDOT Masterworks\nSupplemental Information:\nOther Requirements\nValid driver’s license and acceptable MVR\nAdditional Preferences\n5+ years of construction, construction management, or construction engineering experience or other comparable experience\nPhysical Requirements\nThe team member must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally move up to 75 pounds.This may be required in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.\nWorking Conditions\nFrequent travel by car to client and project sites.The team member will be required to work in various weather conditions and extremes with excessive walking and standing, and/or utilization of various hand tools, as needed.
