You will take loosely defined client needs and turn them into working, production-ready solutions. That could be an automation workflow, a backend service, a web application, or a customer deployment. You will set technical direction, make architecture decisions, and mentor engineers across the team. You will work directly with clients, operations teams, and SMEs, and own your work from the first conversation through production support.\nKey Responsibilities\nRequirements to Solution: Turn loose or incomplete client requirements into clear scope, a working design, and delivered software. Ask the right questions early, surface gaps and edge cases, and propose options with their tradeoffs.\nTechnical Leadership: Set technical direction and engineering standards across automation, backend, and web work.\nArchitecture: Design services, automation, and data flows that bridge legacy systems and modern platforms, and document the tradeoffs behind each decision.\nBackend and APIs: Design and build Python services and APIs (e.g., FastAPI) that are typed, tested, and easy to extend.\nWeb Applications: Build or guide web applications and internal tools, and partner with front-end engineers on API contracts and user workflows.\nAutomation: Lead the design of browser, desktop, and computer-vision automation (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, OpenCV, OCR) that holds up through application changes.\nIntegrations: Own integrations with third-party systems, APIs, and client interfaces, including data mapping and error handling.\nData and SQL: Design schemas, migrations, and queries that stay fast and correct as volume grows.\nReliability: Design for failure with retries, recovery of partial work, and safe concurrent processing.\nDeployment and Operations: Own how your systems are built, deployed, and run, including CI/CD, containers, and cloud or customer-hosted environments. Lead incident response and root-cause analysis.\nClient Communication: Act as a technical contact for client IT and business teams, and explain tradeoffs and constraints in plain terms.\nScoping and Estimation: Assess new work for feasibility, break it into deliverable phases, and give effort estimates.\nAI/ML: Evaluate where AI/ML and LLM tools add real value, and lead their introduction into production.\nCompliance and Security: Own secure credential handling, access control, logging, and audit practices in line with HIPAA and HITRUST.\nDocumentation: Write design, deployment, and operations documentation that others can follow without you.\nMentorship: Grow Software Engineer I and II teammates through code review, design review, pairing, and technical guidance.\nHiring and Culture: Take part in hiring and technical interviews, and help shape engineering practices across the team.\nRequirements\nMinimum of 5 years of professional software development experience.\nExpert proficiency in Python, including production-grade design, testing, and performance tuning.\nA proven record of taking loosely defined requirements to working production solutions.\nExperience designing and building backend services and APIs.\nStrong SQL skills, including schema design, migrations, query performance, and concurrency.\nExperience owning systems in production: deployment, monitoring, incident response, and root-cause analysis.\nExperience with CI/CD and containerized deployment (e.g., Docker).\nExperience integrating with third-party systems and APIs.\nDirect client- or stakeholder-facing experience, including explaining technical decisions to non-technical audiences.\nExperience mentoring engineers and leading technical work across a team.\nWorking knowledge of HIPAA or similar data privacy requirements, and secure handling of sensitive data.\nProficiency with Git, including branching strategies and code review practices.\nPreferred Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).\nExperience with FastAPI, Flask, Django, or similar frameworks.\nExperience with React and TypeScript.\nProduction experience with Selenium, Playwright, or other browser automation.\nExperience with OpenCV, OCR, or image processing.\nExperience with Kubernetes, Helm, or OpenShift.\nExperience with Microsoft Azure or another cloud platform.\nExperience with PostgreSQL or SQL Server.\nExperience with authentication and identity (e.g., OIDC, SAML, Keycloak).\nExperience with task queues, distributed processing, or managing a fleet of workers.\nExperience with healthcare RCM workflows, healthcare data standards (X12 EDI, HL7), or EHR integrations.\nExperience in regulated or federal environments (e.g., HITRUST, FedRAMP, Section 508 / WCAG).\nExperience bringing AI/ML or LLM tools into production.\nExperience with logging, alerting, and observability tools.\nPowerShell scripting and Windows environment experience.\nMust be legally authorized to work in the USA.
