In this role, you'll contribute to the development and evolution of the core software platform that powers the Josh.ai smart home ecosystem.\nYou'll work across platform and application domains, developing new functionality, building integrations with third-party products, and solving complex technical challenges involving connected devices and systems. This is an opportunity to work on software that directly interacts with the physical world while collaborating with a highly skilled, cross-functional engineering team.\nThe ideal candidate is a strong C++ developer who enjoys solving challenging problems, writing clean and reliable code, and contributing to the architecture and continuous improvement of a sophisticated technology platform.\nResponsibilities\nDesign, develop, and maintain core software features across the Josh.ai platform and application ecosystem.\nDevelop and maintain device drivers and integrations that enable seamless communication between Josh.ai and third-party smart home products and technologies.\nTroubleshoot complex software and system-level issues across platform and application domains, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.\nCollaborate closely with backend and frontend engineers, UI/UX designers, and other team members to deliver high-quality software and product functionality.\nParticipate in technical discussions, contribute to software architecture decisions, and recommend improvements to system design and development processes.\nWrite maintainable, efficient, and well-tested code while following established engineering standards and best practices.\nParticipate in code reviews, testing, and iterative deployment processes to continuously improve product quality and reliability.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.\nAt least 3 years of professional software development experience using C++.\nStrong understanding of software development principles, object-oriented programming, and debugging techniques.\nDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical challenges and develop practical, reliable solutions.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.\nExcellent organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative engineering environment.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Go and/or Python.\nExperience developing software for embedded systems or working with real-time operating systems such as FreeRTOS.\nFamiliarity with hardware interfaces, device communication protocols, and third-party system integrations.\nAn interest in smart home technology, home automation, IoT, or connected device ecosystems.\nExperience working in an agile software development environment.\nFamiliarity with development tools and workflows such as Git, JIRA, automated testing, and continuous integration/deployment.\nComfortable working in an iterative development environment with frequent code testing, integration, and deployment.\nWhy Join Josh.ai?\nAt Josh.ai, you'll have the opportunity to work on innovative technology that is changing how people interact with their homes.
