Your impact reaches far beyond the classroom.\nAbout the Role\nJoyce University is seeking a passionate and student-centered English Adjunct Faculty member to join our General Education team in a fully remote teaching environment.\nIn this role, you will teach English courses on a term-to-term basis while helping students develop the reading, writing, critical thinking, and communication skills they need to succeed in college and their future careers. You’ll engage, support, and challenge students through meaningful online instruction that strengthens their ability to communicate effectively, evaluate information, develop ideas, and express themselves clearly in academic and professional settings.\nThis opportunity is ideal for educators who are energized by teaching, committed to student success, and excited to contribute to a collaborative and mission-driven academic community.\nWhat You’ll Do\nCreate an Engaging, Student-Centered Learning Experience\nFoster an inclusive, respectful, and supportive online learning environment.\nInteract with students fairly, professionally, and compassionately.\nSupport and assess student academic achievement and growth.\nEncourage curiosity, critical thinking, participation, and meaningful discussion.\nHelp students strengthen their reading comprehension, written communication, research, and analytical skills.\nGuide students in developing clear, organized, and effective written communication for academic and professional settings.\nMotivate students to advance their education and achieve their academic goals.\nProvide encouragement and proactive support to students who may be struggling or disengaged.\nDeliver High-Quality Online Instruction\nTeach assigned English asynchronous courses in alignment with course objectives and university standards.\nEnsure courses are accurate, organized, and fully prepared before student engagement begins.\nPresent English concepts, writing strategies, and communication skills in ways that are engaging, accessible, and relevant to students.\nUtilize effective instructional strategies and learning technologies to support student learning.\nProvide instruction and guidance in areas such as academic writing, grammar, reading comprehension, critical analysis, research, and effective communication, as appropriate to the assigned course.\nRespond to student inquiries within 24 hours.\nGrade assignments within 72 hours of submission.\nMaintain an active faculty presence through announcements, discussion participation, and weekly course engagement.\nHold at least one hour of virtual office hours each week.\nRecord and share weekly course overview videos to provide context, reinforce key concepts, and support student success.\nProvide timely, constructive feedback that helps students understand their progress and areas for growth, particularly in written communication and critical thinking.\nSupport Academic Excellence & Collaboration\nAdhere to university policies, academic standards, course requirements, and faculty expectations.\nAccurately maintain grades, attendance, and student records.\nCommunicate proactively with Student Services and academic leadership regarding student concerns or course-related issues.\nParticipate in faculty meetings, department activities, and university events as needed.\nCollaborate with faculty and colleagues across the university to support student outcomes and academic excellence.\nContribute to curriculum and course improvement initiatives as appropriate.\nCommit to Professional Growth\nStay current in English, composition, writing instruction, and related areas through continuing education, professional organizations, conferences, research, and professional reading.\nParticipate in faculty development and curriculum improvement initiatives.\nExplore effective and innovative teaching methods and share best practices with colleagues.\nPursue lifelong learning that strengthens both subject-matter expertise and instructional excellence.\nWhy You’ll Love It Here\nWe know that when our people feel supported, they do their best work -
