This role provides hands-on, field-based safety leadership by leading jobsite safety initiatives, conducting comprehensive construction risk assessments, delivering safety training, investigating incidents, and ensuring compliance with all OSHA and regulatory requirements.\nThe Senior Safety Specialist partners closely with project teams to promote safe work practices on active construction sites. This position also mentors junior safety staff and takes a proactive approach to strengthening a culture of safety within construction operations at all levels of the organization.\nResponsibilities\nEnsure that the intent of Cullen policies, procedures and quality standards is followed in accordance with our Quality Management System.\nParticipate in pre-job planning, Ops Planning, and attend 6-week jobsite visits to hold job teams accountable.\nDetermine the means, methods and equipment during pre-construction evaluation phase.\nDevelop and facilitate both formal and informal training sessions at job sites.\nEducate foreman on the daily work plan procedure and hold them accountable.\nEnsure that Subcontractors are conducting the proper training requirements as per the OSHA standards, review their safety programs, and prepare written reports of any violations.\nAssist safety director in investigations, near misses, and OSHA investigations.\nEnsure all field personnel are up to date on compliance requirements (OSHA 30, first aid, CPR, etc.).\nConduct on-site inspections and control hazardous working conditions or unsafe employee activities through teaching and coaching.\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in occupational safety/health degree with at least three years of experience as a Safety Specialist OR completion of an Apprenticeship combined with a minimum of six years of construction experience.\nCHST, ASP, or CSP Preferred\nProficiency with OSHA standards.\nAdvanced knowledge of construction industry practices, risk management and field operations.\nThorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local and company regulations.\nAbility to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures is essential.\nGood understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc.\nStrong management, leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.\nWhy JP Cullen?\nWe specialize in the “Tough Jobs” no one else can do.
