About the Job.

JPI has an exciting opportunity for an AI Engineer to join the Digital Workflows team in Dallas, TX. As JPI continues to modernize its software development ecosystem around AI, this role will play a key part in advancing our digital strategy and transforming building. You’ll build production-grade software-agentic systems, AI-driven applications, integrations, and automations-using AI coding assistants and agentic development tools as a core part of how you work, turning ideas into shipped solutions faster and with high quality. The AI Engineer will help deliver proprietary JPI agents, applications, and system integrations, leveraging platforms such as Workato and complementary technologies, while upholding rigorous engineering standards for design, testing, security, and code review. This role collaborates closely with both technical and non-technical teams to implement high-value process improvements throughout the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

AI-Assisted Software Development

  • Design, build, test, and ship production software-including integrations, internal applications, agents, and automations-using AI coding assistants and agentic development tools as a core part of the daily workflow.
  • Translate business requirements into clear specifications, context, and constraints that guide AI tools toward accurate, maintainable results.
  • Critically review, test, and refactor AI-generated code for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability, and remain accountable for everything committed and deployed.
  • Use AI to generate and maintain unit and integration tests, technical documentation, and code-review feedback.
  • Develop and share reusable prompts, project context files, and workflows that raise the team’s AI-assisted development practices; evaluate new tools and models and recommend adoption where they improve quality, speed, or cost.

Agentic AI Development

  • Design, build, deploy, and maintain agents, RPA, and AI-powered applications using frameworks and protocols such as LangGraph and MCP to expand what business units across JPI can achieve.
  • Establish and maintain automatic and procedural guardrails regarding security, reliability, fairness, accuracy, observability, and traceability.
  • Continually review and update agents, AI solutions and RPA systems to maintain the highest standards of security, reliability, fairness, accuracy, observability, and traceability.

Back-End & Integrations Development

  • Design and deliver scalable integrations using Workato, Flows for Apex, Python, Oracle Cloud and REST APIs to manage flows between many different systems, using AI-assisted development to accelerate delivery.
  • Establish and maintain secure application connections to various third party systems.
  • Document integration flows and connections.
  • Optimize application performance, reliability, and observability.

Solution Architecture & Development

  • Contribute to the design and development of scalable, maintainable, and secure integrations and AI aligned with business needs.
  • Translate functional requirements into technical user stories.
  • Contribute to application development, implementing key features or solving challenging problems as needed.
  • Design, test, and evaluate prompts and model configurations, iterating based on output quality, cost, and latency benchmarks.

Agile Sprint Methodology

  • Participate in peer code reviews, including review of AI-generated code, and in technical decision making.
  • Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and deliver user stories and application features within sprint cycles.
  • Support the scrum team in consistently meeting sprint commitments.

Collaboration & Strategy

  • Collaborate with co-workers in the Digital Workflows and Digital Engineering teams and other business units to understand business needs.
  • Support adoption of Agents and RPA by helping business units use them effectively, and by monitoring and improving feature usage.
  • Work closely with UI developers to ensure integrations and Agents are aligned with UI needs.
  • Share AI-assisted development, agentic, RPA, and integration best practices with co-workers, including coaching teammates on effective use of AI coding tools.

Responsible AI Use

  • Uses approved enterprise AI tools (e.g., Claude, Microsoft Copilot) and AI coding assistants to accelerate development, debugging, and documentation work.
  • Applies sound judgment to review AI-generated code and outputs for accuracy, security, and appropriateness before committing, deploying, or sharing them.
  • Follows company data handling, confidentiality, and acceptable-use policies when working with AI tools and sensitive information.
  • Demonstrates curiosity and willingness to adopt new tools; actively participates in AI training, office hours, and adoption campaigns.
