The Senior Data Platform Engineer owns JPI's core data platform end to end and serves as a key technical partner across application development, data and analytics, and enterprise architecture.\nThis role owns the stability, performance, and evolution of JPI's Oracle data platform, including Oracle Autonomous AI Database with the Transaction Processing workload type for operational workloads and the Lakehouse workload type for analytics and AI-ready data access. It also owns the management of semi-structured and unstructured data accessed through Autonomous AI Lakehouse and OCI Object Storage, and partners with the infrastructure team that administers the underlying Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) tenancy.\nThis is a hands-on, senior-level individual contributor role blending database operations, data management, data architecture, and development enablement.\nAs the platform grows toward mission-critical, 24x7 workloads, this role plays a central part in establishing best practices, automation, and long-term scalability. It offers genuine technical breadth, direct influence over architecture and standards, and real ownership of JPI's data platform.\nEssential Functions & Responsibilities\nDatabase Operations & Reliability (Core)\nOwn day-to-day administration of Oracle Autonomous AI Database environments, including Transaction Processing and Lakehouse workloads.\nEnsure database availability, performance, backup, and recovery readiness.\nMonitor capacity, resource usage, and growth trends across environments.\nLead performance tuning for SQL, PL/SQL, and data access patterns.\nPlan and execute patching, upgrades, and lifecycle maintenance.\nPrepare the platform for future mission-critical / 24x7 workloads.\nMulti-Platform & Unstructured Data Management (Core)\nAdminister and support storage and access patterns for semi-structured and unstructured data, including JSON, Parquet, Avro, documents, and file-based assets.\nManage Oracle Autonomous AI Lakehouse and related analytics capabilities.\nOwn cost management, resource monitoring, and query performance across these platforms.\nDefine standards for data organization, file formats, partitioning, and lifecycle across the data lake and lakehouse layers.\nEstablish governance, cataloging, and access-control practices spanning structured and unstructured assets.\nArchitecture & Standards\nDefine and maintain data platform architecture standards, patterns, and best practices.\nPartner with the Enterprise Architect to align platform design with enterprise systems and integration strategy.\nGuide schema design, indexing strategies, partitioning, and data modeling decisions.\nAdvise on the right platform for a given workload across transactional, analytical, and file-based use cases.\nSupport capacity planning and long-term platform roadmap decisions.\nDevelopment Enablement\nPartner closely with application development teams to support their database and platform needs.\nEstablish repeatable deployment and rollback patterns for database and platform changes.\nReview database-related pull requests for performance, security, and standards compliance.\nHelp development teams design scalable, maintainable data solutions.\nData Platform & Analytics Support\nSupport analytical and AI-ready workloads in Oracle Autonomous AI Lakehouse, including reporting and downstream analytics.\nPartner with data and analytics teams on performance optimization and data access patterns.\nSupport master data model, integration hubs, and data synchronization workflows.\nAssist in designing reliable data pipelines and changing propagation patterns.\nSecurity & Compliance (Shared Ownership)\nCollaborate with IT Operations security roles to support SOC 2 requirements.\nManage encryption, auditing, access controls, and role-based security across databases and analytics platforms.\nParticipate in security reviews, audits, and compliance documentation.\nEnsure secure configurations aligned with enterprise standards across all platform components.\nNon-essential Functions & Responsibilities\nParticipate in vendor and licensing discussions related to database and analytics platform services.\nContribute to internal documentation, runbooks, and knowledge-sharing sessions.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nEducation, Work Experience & Physical Requirements\nEducation & Certifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.\nPreferred: relevant certifications such as Oracle Database, SnowPro, or Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer.\nRequired Work Experience & Skills\n8+ years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator, including time in a senior or lead capacity.\nStrong hands-on experience with Oracle Autonomous AI Database, including Transaction Processing and/or Lakehouse workload types.\nDeep knowledge of Oracle performance tuning, indexing, execution plans, and SQL optimization.\nExperience supporting both transactional and analytical workloads.\nPractical experience managing semi-structured or unstructured data at scale, including file formats such as JSON, Parquet, or Avro.\nHands-on administration of a cloud lakehouse/analytics platform\nStrong understanding of backup, recovery, and high-availability concepts.\nAbility to operate independently as the owner of JPI's Oracle databases and data platform, in partnership with the infrastructure team.\nComfort moving between deep Oracle database work and multi-platform data management rather than specializing in one area.\nStrong collaboration skills with developers, data teams, and architects.\nPreferred Work Experience & Skills\nFamiliarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) as the environment hosting Oracle Autonomous AI Database services.\nExperience with data cataloging or governance tooling.\nExperience supporting compliance frameworks such as SOC 2.\nBackground in data platforms, master data model, or analytics-oriented environments.\nInterest in automation and platform observability tooling.\nPhysical Requirements\nPrimarily sedentary work performed in an office or remote office environment, with extended periods of computer and keyboard use.\nOccasional availability outside standard business hours to support maintenance windows,
