Proven expertise in Java based backend architectures, distributed systems, and low latency, high availability services. Strong production mindset with end to end ownership across the full software lifecycle-from architecture and design through deployment, operations, and optimization. Comfortable acting as a technical authority in complex, globally distributed environments.In addition to enhancing our core platform, the team is building a strategic new channel that brings investment capabilities directly to the bank's external clients through seamless integration with the e-banking platform. Engineers joining the team will have the opportunity to shape the architecture, scalability, and operational model of this highly visible initiative from an early stage.\nNote: This is a 12 months contract role with an external agency payroll provider.\nYOUR CHALLENGE\nDesign and evolve robust distributed systems, balancing scalability, latency, consistency, and fault tolerance\nApply distributed systems principles (e.g. consistency models, idempotency, back-pressure, resiliency patterns) to real-world financial workloads\nDevelop and maintain high-performance backend services and APIs using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot\nOptimize end-to-end latency, asynchronous processing, and efficient IO\nIdentify and resolve performance bottlenecks through profiling, benchmarking, and load testing\nIntegrate complex financial platforms and third-party services, ensuring correctness, data integrity, and operational resilience\nContribute to the expansion of the platform into digital client channels, designing and building backend services that power client-facing wealth and investment capabilities integrated into the bank's e-banking ecosystem.\nDesign reliable messaging and integration flows using JPA, JDBC templates, JMS, and event-driven patterns\nCode Quality and Best Practices: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while adhering to industry best practices, including code reviews, testing, and CI/CD.\nApply financial-grade engineering principles (auditability, security, controlled change\nCollaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications and deliverables.\nYOUR PROFILE\nLanguages & Platforms: Java (Core Java, Collections, JSON, JDBC), Spring Framework, Spring Boot\nArchitecture: Distributed systems, microservices, event-driven design, low-latency systems\nDatabases & Messaging: JPA, JDBC, relational databases, JMS\nOperating Systems: Unix/Linux, bash scripting\nSecurity: OAuth2, API security, IAM concepts\nGood code review practices and pride in code quality.\nAbility to work independently and take ownership of projects.· \nWillingness to collaborate in a global team with members in Zurich and Singapore\nPrevious experience in the financial industry is a plus.\nExperience with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.\nKnowledge of microservices architecture and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).\nFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.\nStrong ownership mindset with focus on business impact and reliability\nAnalytical problem-solver with a performance- and quality-driven approach\nTeam player and ability to work in an agile environment\nWe arelooking forward to receiving your full job application through our online application tool.
