Our HPC Systems Engineers are responsible for building automation, maintaining, and troubleshooting Jump’s global production systems, including one of the largest supercomputing grids in the world. The scale of our computing environments provides unique challenges in providing good performance and reliability. Several systems including compute, scheduling, networks, and large-scale data storage must integrate seamlessly to support data pipelines and quantitative research. The ideal candidate would be a hands-on individual, highly skilled in the details and nuances of managing Linux environments with a strong software development background necessary to support uniquely customized systems at scale.\nWhat You'll Do:\nDaily access to world-class, large-scale production systems as well as an unparalleled high-performance research “supercomputer”\nPerform the functions of architect, engineer, and administrator\nDesign, implement, maintain, and support high performance compute and storage systems\nImplement and support performance monitoring and fault monitoring systems\nMonitor systems and storage performance, up to and including network components\nBuild tooling to compile, package, install, and upgrade software and operating system components at scale\nCollaborate with team members and across teams to write code and testing infrastructures spanning both new and existing codebases in multiple programming languages\nDevelop and improve systems and user documentation\nParticipate in large, coordinated maintenance operations, including during evenings and weekends\nWork on global projects across a wide range of infrastructure\nCollaborate directly with researchers to optimize their use of HPC infrastructure\nDevelop and monitor the tools used to maintain a production computing environment\nProvide operational support on a rotating basis and as needed\nManage relationships with outside vendors, including traveling both domestically and internationally to meet with current and potential vendors\nAdhere to all company cybersecurity and IT policies, including performing all work using only approved hardware and software Other duties as assigned or needed\nSkills You'll Need:\nAt least 5+ years of professional experience in high performance computing (HPC), including parallel filesystems (e.g., Lustre, GPFS), batch systems (e.g., Slurm, Grid Engine), and high-performance network interconnects experience is a plus, but not required\nAt least 5+ years of experience with Linux systems administration\nHigh proficiency with at least one programming/scripting language (e.g., Go, Python, C)\nExtensive experience designing, building, and maintaining complicated, interdependent, and distributed systems\nExtensive experience profiling and debugging application stacks (debuggers and profilers)\nExperience with system configuration management tools (SaltStack, Ansible, Puppet, etc.)\nA compulsion to perform root cause analysis\nReliable and predictable availability\nBenefits include:\nPrivate Medical, Vision and Dental Insurance\nTravel Medical Insurance\nGroup Pension Scheme\nGroup Life Assurance and Income Protection Schemes\nPaid Parental Leave\nParking and Commuter Benefits","description_format":"text","description_chars":4048,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Dental insurance","Health insurance","Parental leave"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Hedge Funds & Alternative Investments"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-05-19T15:44:31Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"GB","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"Licensed UK visa sponsor (Skilled Worker, Senior or Specialist Worker)","filings_12m":null,"filings_prev_12m":null,"green_card_filings_12m":null,"median_offered_wage_usd":null,"route":"Skilled Worker;
