We specialise in exterior refurbishment, flat roofing, leadwork, interior refurbishment and general maintenance including painting and decorating, on both commercial and domestic property. We work as a main contractor on a wide range of buildings, including many listed ones, and we work closely with surveyors and property managing agents to deliver work to a high, sustainable and professional standard.\nTHE ROLE\nWe are looking for a Painter & Decorator to join JDI's directly employed and self-employed teams. You will work on exterior renovation from scaffold and on internal common parts and domestic redecoration — mostly on period buildings and mansion blocks around London. This is skilled decorating, not rolling magnolia: preparation and finish are what the client is paying for, and what we will judge the work on.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nPreparation of walls, ceilings and all timber surfaces to a standard that carries the finish.\nExternal renovation: woodwork, masonry and metalwork, working safely from scaffold.\nFilling (Toupret), glazing, putty work with Dryseal, and minor window care.\nHigh-quality finishing in eggshell, emulsion, stain, varnish and gloss.\nInternal redecoration, wallpaper and lining paper hanging.\nKeeping the work area clean and clearing up properly at the end of each day.\nREQUIREMENTS\nPainting & Decorating NVQ (Level 2 minimum).\nCSCS card — blue (Skilled Worker) as a minimum.\nAt least 5 years' experience on period exterior buildings and common parts.\nConfident and safe working from scaffold.\nYour own professional tools for the trade.\nFull PPE, good spoken English, and clear communication on site.\nWHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU\nRates above market, paid direct — no agency in the middle.\nIncentive plans on top of base pay.\nReal work on real buildings — listed buildings, mansion blocks and period properties.
