You can take a partner's desired customer experience, understand both sides of an integration, and deliver a practical, supportable solution with the capabilities that are available today.\nYou bring strong API and web-platform fundamentals, communicate comfortably with external technical audiences, and care as much about the developer's path to success as the code itself. You are not satisfied with repeatedly solving the same problem by hand: you turn what you learn from partner work into better SDKs, documentation, tooling, and integration patterns.\nWhat You Will Work On\nIndependently lead technical discovery and solutioning for priority partner integrations, including partner API research, data mapping, authentication and authorization flows, architecture choices, implementation support, and launch readiness.\nBuild and maintain high-quality developer ecosystem capabilities: portal experiences, documentation tooling, SDKs, sample apps, quickstarts, integration templates, and developer-support automation.\nCreate reference implementations and reusable patterns for common integration needs such as OAuth, webhooks, retries, idempotency, error handling, and observability.\nRun technical working sessions with partners, translate complex requirements into clear decisions and action plans, and communicate platform boundaries accurately.\nWork closely with Public API Engineering and Product to identify developer friction, validate proposed API designs with realistic use cases, and deliver concise, evidence-backed feedback.\nOwn a multi-surface developer journey or a portfolio of partner integrations from design through delivery, operational readiness, and iteration.\nImprove developer self-service by using support questions, integration telemetry, and qualitative feedback to prioritize what should become documentation, an SDK feature, a product enhancement, or a platform request.\nReview designs and code; mentor teammates; and elevate engineering quality in both internal systems and partner-facing artifacts.\nCollaborate with Security, Support, and other stakeholders to ensure integrations are safe, observable, and supportable.\nHow You Will Do Your Work\nAs a Senior Software Engineer, how results are achieved is central to success at Justworks. You will demonstrate:\nGood judgment: You balance partner urgency with long-term maintainability, security, and operational quality.\nResourcefulness: You find a clear route through ambiguity, prototype thoughtfully, and reduce recurring work through reusable solutions.\nTeamwork and communication: You build credibility in partner conversations and create durable written artifacts that help others move independently.\nInfluence and leadership: You lead through technical depth, clear recommendations, mentoring, and collaborative problem solving.\nSkills and knowledge: You apply and continuously improve modern practices in API integrations, web applications, testing, observability, and developer experience.\nYou model Justworks' COGIS values-Camaraderie, Openness, Grit, Integrity, and Simplicity-in both the products you build and the relationships you create.\nQualifications\n5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems.\nStrong experience consuming, integrating with, or building HTTP APIs; practical understanding of OAuth 2.0/OIDC, API authentication, tokens and scopes, webhooks, pagination, rate limits, and error handling.\nExperience with backend and/or full-stack web development in one or more modern languages such as TypeScript, Go, Ruby, or Python.\nExperience designing reliable integration behavior: retries, idempotency, asynchronous workflows, data contracts, monitoring, and incident and debugging practices.\nClear technical writing and the ability to explain architecture and tradeoffs to engineers, product partners, and external developers.\nEvidence of delivering customer-facing or developer-facing experiences with a high bar for usability and documentation.\nStrong collaboration skills and comfort working across Engineering, Product, Partnerships and Sales, Support, and Security.\nNice To Have\nExperience maintaining an SDK, developer portal, API documentation, CLI, sample application, open source libraries, or an integration marketplace.\nExperience in regulated, high-trust, or data-sensitive domains.\nExperience with OpenAPI, API-client generation, event-driven systems, or workflow engines.\nExperience working directly with enterprise technical stakeholders.\nTechnologies and Experience\nOur work spans TypeScript/JavaScript, Go, Ruby, AWS, containers, relational data stores, observability tooling, API specifications such as OpenAPI, and OAuth/OIDC.
