You will not simply be responsible for producing reports -- you will own the numbers, identify issues, investigate discrepancies and bring practical solutions to the table.\nA particularly important part of this position is inventory and cost accounting. The successful candidate will have solid experience working in a stock-intensive environment, ideally involving manufactured inventory, and be comfortable with COGS, stock movements, adjustments, write-offs, returns, stock counts and reconciliations.\nIf you are commercially minded, technically strong and enjoy taking ownership, this could be an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a growing business.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nFinancial Accounting & Month-End\nOwn the month-end close process and ensure agreed deadlines are consistently achieved.\n\nEnsure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.\n\nReview the general ledger, income statement and balance sheet.\n\nPrepare and review journals, accruals and provisions.\n\nEnsure balance sheet accounts are fully reconciled and supported.\n\nInvestigate discrepancies, variances and unusual movements.\n\nPrepare financial information and analysis to support monthly management reporting.\n\nBanking, Cash Flow & Working Capital\nReview local and foreign-currency bank reconciliations.\n\nReview weekly payment schedules for accuracy and completeness.\n\nPrepare and maintain rolling monthly cash-flow forecasts.\n\nIncorporate debtor receipts, creditor payments, inventory purchases and foreign-currency movements into cash-flow planning.\n\nUpdate forecasts for actuals and known commitments and proactively flag potential cash-flow requirements.\n\nOversee debtors and creditors, including ageing, collections, reconciliations, supplier statements and disputes.\n\nInventory & Cost Accounting\nThis is a critical component of the role.\nOwn the financial side of inventory accounting and reconciliation.\n\nReview stock movements, COGS, adjustments, write-offs and returns.\n\nEnsure inventory is accurately reflected in the financial records.\n\nInvestigate and resolve stock discrepancies and variances.\n\nSupport accurate stock counts and reconciliation processes.\n\nVAT, Statutory & External Reporting\nPrepare and review VAT information and reconciliations for South African and UK entities.\n\nEnsure statutory submissions are accurate and completed on time.\n\nLiaise with external accountants, tax advisers and auditors.\n\nAssist with audit and independent review requirements.\n\nSales Commissions\nCalculate sales representative commissions.\n\nValidate commission calculations against sales reports and approved commission structures.\n\nSystems, Controls & Process Improvement\nMaintain the financial integrity and accuracy of Sage Intacct.\n\nInvestigate and resolve accounting and system-related issues.\n\nEnsure transactions from third-party platforms are accurately recorded.\n\nIdentify opportunities to improve, streamline and automate finance processes.\n\nStrengthen financial controls and operational efficiencies.\n\nFinance Team Leadership\nManage and support the finance team.\n\nAllocate responsibilities and monitor deadlines.\n\nProvide guidance, coaching and training.\n\nConduct regular performance check-ins.\n\nEnsure accurate and timely processing while remaining hands-on when required.\n\nWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR\nEssential Experience\nProven experience as a Financial Controller, Financial Accountant or similar operational finance professional.\n\nApproximately 4+ years' relevant experience, with depth and relevance more important than years alone.\n\nStrong month-end close and balance-sheet control experience.\n\nProven experience with inventory accounting in a stock-intensive or manufacturing environment.\n\nPractical understanding of COGS, stock adjustments, write-offs, returns and inventory reconciliations.\n\nExperience with cash-flow forecasting and working-capital management.\n\nExperience managing or supervising junior finance staff.\n\nStrong understanding of debtors, creditors, VAT and banking.\n\nExcellent attention to detail with a high level of ownership and accountability.\n\nAbility to work independently, meet deadlines and proactively address issues.\n\nAdvantageous\nExperience with:\nSage Intacct\n\nMulti-currency accounting\n\nMulti-entity environments\n\nFMCG / manufacturing\n\nPharmaceutical / nutraceutical\n\nFood or consumer products\n\nWholesale / distribution\n\nRetail\n\nE-commerce\n\nPower BI or similar reporting tools\n\nQUALIFICATION\nA BCom Accounting, BCom Financial Accounting or equivalent qualification would be preferred.\nHowever, practical financial-control experience, commercial understanding and
