You’ll work on the systems that power payments, subscriptions, billing, taxes, refunds, and commerce across direct-to-consumer products used at significant scale, including major spikes in traffic during live sporting events. This is a unique opportunity for senior engineers who enjoy solving complex distributed systems problems where reliability, security, scalability, and correctness directly impact the customer experience and real-world transactions.\nKey Responsibilities:\nLead the technical direction of key commerce capabilities, from architecture and design through production.\nDesign and build scalable, secure APIs and event-driven systems.\nWork on payment authorization and capture, refunds, disputes, reconciliation, and subscription lifecycle management.\nBuild reliable systems that handle retries, out-of-order webhooks, idempotency, and eventual consistency.\nMake architecture decisions balancing reliability, security, cost, and speed of delivery.\nTake ownership of production systems, including incident response, root-cause analysis, and follow-up improvements.\nWrite high-quality production code with meaningful test coverage and automation.\nMentor other engineers and help raise the engineering standards across the team.\nEvaluate emerging payment and commerce technologies and identify opportunities to improve conversion, reliability, and operational efficiency.\nWork closely with stakeholders across different business areas to build reusable commerce capabilities without compromising their individual customer experiences.\nCore Requirements:\n5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on scalable APIs and event-driven systems.\nStrong proficiency in Go - commerce services are primarily written in Go, and you should be ready to contribute to production code from day one.\nExperience with payments or commerce platforms, such as Stripe, Adyen, Braintree, or similar.\nStrong understanding of software architecture and large-scale system design.\nExperience with SQL and NoSQL databases, ideally DynamoDB and Redis.\nProfessional experience with AWS or another major cloud provider.\nHands-on experience with containers and Kubernetes.\nStrong computer science fundamentals and problem-solving skills.\nProfessional experience using Generative AI tools in software development.\nStrong ownership mindset and experience operating production systems.\nExcellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across a distributed, global team.\nNice-to-Have:\nExperience building streaming applications or platforms supporting large-scale live events.\nExperience with high-availability e-commerce systems and traffic spikes.\nExperience managing subscription lifecycles, including renewals, upgrades, downgrades, and cancellations.\nStrong understanding of idempotency, webhook processing, retries, and eventual consistency.\nExperience building commerce functionality directly
