It's a great fit for people who enjoy owning complex distributed systems end-to-end, making a direct impact on highly visible product areas, and collaborating closely with product, frontend, platform, and infrastructure teams.\nWhat you’ll build and own\nDesign, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Golang.\nDevelop and optimize distributed systems that support high traffic volumes and critical platform functionality.\nArchitect and implement cloud-native solutions, ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability.\nDesign and manage scalable data storage solutions across SQL and NoSQL databases.\nDeploy, monitor, and maintain production services running on Kubernetes.\nImprove system observability and reliability through monitoring, automation, and performance optimization.\nContribute to architectural discussions and troubleshoot complex production issues.\nCollaborate closely with product, frontend, platform, and infrastructure teams to deliver seamless user experiences.\nCore Requirements\n5+ years of software engineering experience, with strong hands-on expertise building backend systems in Golang.\nSolid understanding of Go's concurrency model (goroutines, channels), along with testing, profiling, and idiomatic Go practices.\nDeep understanding of distributed systems and microservices architectures, with a proven track record in high-traffic, large-scale environments.\nHands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB), including scalable data modeling and performance optimization.\nExperience building and operating cloud-native applications on GCP or AWS, with production experience on Kubernetes.\nStrong problem-solving skills with a focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills in English.\nAbility to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.\nNice-to-Have\nProfessional experience building frontend applications using React.js, Next.js, and GraphQL.\nExperience building recommendation systems, personalization engines, or search infrastructure.\nFamiliarity with large-scale consumer-facing products serving millions of users.\nExperience working in high-growth environments where scalability, reliability, and user experience are critical.\nComfortable working flexible hours to overlap with distributed teams across different time zones.\nAdditional\nUS Timezone Overlap: 5h-6h daily PST\nWhy Join Kake?\nThe icing on the Kake:\n Competitive Pay in USD: Work globally, get paid globally.\n Fully Remote: Simply put, we trust you.\n Better Me Fund: We invest in your personal growth and passions.\n Compassion is Badass: Join a community that invests in social good.\nReady for your piece of the Kake?
