We're changing people's lives and your work directly contributes to this every day.\nWe’re looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer (React Native) who loves their craft and is excited to take ownership of our patient mobile app and help shape the future of mental health care.\nAbout the role\nKantoko already has a live patient mobile app used as part of how our patients access and manage their care.\nAs Kantoko’s Senior Mobile Engineer, you’ll take ownership of that app and be responsible for making it better every week: shipping new features, improving the patient experience, strengthening the technical foundations, and helping us scale the product as we grow.\nOwn the Patient Mobile App and its ongoing technical direction, architecture and development.\n\nShip new patient-facing features from idea through to production, working closely with product, design, engineering and operations.\n\nTurn sometimes very rough ideas and patient problems into well-scoped features and shipped code.\n\nEvolve our mobile architecture, testing strategy and release pipeline as the product grows.\n\nOwn the quality and reliability of the mobile experience, including performance, crash reporting, analytics, monitoring and error handling.\n\nMaintain a fast and predictable release cadence across the App Store and Play Store using Expo EAS, CI/CD and over-the-air updates.\n\nBuild and improve core mobile functionality including push notifications, deep links, secure/auth flows, permissions and accessibility.\n\nImprove existing parts of the app where the product or technical experience could be better - whether that means simplifying a flow, improving performance or paying down the right technical debt.\n\nWe see engineers as problem solvers - you’ll be involved directly in the what, when and how of product development, not just handed tickets.\n\nWhat you’ll bring:\nYou’re excited about joining an early-stage startup and taking full ownership of our mobile app.\n\nYou ship fast and iterate fast - you’re comfortable getting features into users’ hands and improving them weekly.\n\nYou have deep experience with React Native and Expo, and strong TypeScript proficiency.\n\nYou have shipped at least one meaningful mobile app to production (App Store / Play Store) as a primary contributor and supported it in the wild.\n\nYour architecture instincts are solid: navigation, state management, error handling, etc.\n\nYou’re passionate about great performance and smooth UX.\n\nYou’re pragmatic and know how to prioritise effectively.\n\nYou’re excited to work closely with designers and other engineers to ship great experiences.\n\nCurrent Mobile Stack:\nMobile: React Native + Expo\n\nBackend: APIs built on Python/Django (existing web platform)\n\nWhy work with us:\nHybrid working environment - 3 days in the office near Central Station.\n\nOwn a piece - generous ESOP plan.\n\nGreat team culture - work alongside our small and quirky team.\n\nEmbrace the purple - we celebrate what makes people unique and thrive when everyone feels safe to bring their full self to work!\n\nHave an impact - a rare opportunity to have a direct positive impact on patients every day.\n\nReal ownership - you’ll have meaningful influence over the mobile product, its technical direction and how we build it as Kantoko grows.\n\nThe details\nRole: Senior Mobile Engineer (React Native)\n\nEngagement: Full-time\n\nLocation: Hybrid, Sydney NSW - 3 days per week in our office near Central Station\n\nExperience: 2+ years of React Native experience preferred\n\nStack: React Native, Expo and TypeScript\n\nWork authorisation: Australian work rights preferred\n\nBenefits: Generous ESOP and flexible work-from-home arrangements\n\nApplication Question:\nTell us about a React Native app you’ve worked on in production.
