We’re building products that help creators spend less time worrying about finances so they can focus on creating.\nAbout the Role\nWe’re looking for a Data Product Engineer to help us turn data into one of Karat’s most powerful product advantages.\nThis is a high-impact, highly cross-functional role for someone who thinks like a product builder but operates deep in the data stack. You’ll own the systems that transform raw data into trusted models, internal insights, and customer-facing experiences that drive real business outcomes.\nBeyond building pipelines and dashboards, you’ll explore how to productize data - powering internal decision-making, enabling smarter automation, and creating data experiences that delight customers. You’ll work across analytics, data engineering, and product surfaces to ensure our data is not just accurate, but actionable and beautifully expressed.\nIf you love turning messy data into elegant, high-leverage products that people actually use, this role is for you.\nThis position is based in Los Angeles, CA.\nThe compensation for this role is between $130k to $170k.\nWhat you’ll do:\nBuild the data foundation\nDesign, build, and maintain scalable data models in Snowflake\nDevelop reliable ETL/ELT pipelines to ensure timely, trustworthy data\nImprove data quality, testing, and observability across the stack\nEstablish best practices for metrics definitions and semantic consistency\nProductize data internally\nBuild high-impact datasets and dashboards in Sigma used across product, ops, risk, and finance\nPartner with teams to turn ambiguous questions into clear, trusted metrics\nAutomate manual reporting and operational workflows\nDrive adoption and best practices for data usage across the company\nShip customer-facing data experiences\nHelp design and build data features embedded in Karat’s product surfaces\nCreate clear, intuitive data visualizations that help creators understand their business\nPartner with product and design to translate complex financial data into simple UX\nIdentify opportunities to turn internal insights into customer value\nLeverage AI and automation\nBuild AI-powered workflows that unlock more value from Karat’s data\nSupport LLM-enabled analytics and internal copilots\nExplore new ways to combine structured data + AI for step-function leverage\nWhat you'll need:\n4+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or data-heavy product roles\nExceptional SQL skills and strong data modeling fundamentals\nExperience building ETL/ELT pipelines (dbt, Airflow, or similar)\nHands-on experience with Snowflake or modern cloud warehouses\nStrong Python (or similar) for data workflows and automation\nExperience with BI tools (Sigma, Looker, Mode, etc.) and semantic layers\nStrong product intuition - you care about usability, clarity, and impact\nComfort working cross-functionally with product, ops, risk, and finance\nHigh ownership mindset and bias toward shipping\nNice to have:\nExperience building customer-facing analytics or data products\n\nFinTech or payments experience\n\nExperience with reverse ETL or operational analytics\n\nFamiliarity with data visualization best practices and UX principles\n\nExperience building AI/LLM-powered data workflows\n\ndbt experience\n\nWhy Karat?\nHuge opportunity.
