This is a high-leverage, highly autonomous role for someone who loves building internal tools that feel like magic: fast, reliable, and deeply impactful.\nYou’ll own and evolve the systems that power our operations, support, risk, and compliance teams - from admin dashboards and Slack bots to real-time notifications and AI-assisted workflows. Your work will directly enable Karat to scale efficiently without adding headcount.\nYou’ll partner closely with product, ops, risk, and engineering to identify friction, automate workflows, and build internal platforms that set the gold standard for operational excellence.\nThis position is based in Los Angeles, CA.\nThe compensation for this role is between $130k to $170k.\nWhat you’ll do:\nDesign and build internal tools used daily by operations, support, and risk teams\nCreate automation for key workflows - onboarding, approvals, limits, escalations, and more\nBuild AI-powered workflows with humans-in-the-loop to increase team leverage\nDevelop admin dashboards, Slack bots, and real-time notification systems\nPartner cross-functionally to identify pain points and solve them with software\nMaintain high reliability, performance, and usability across all internal systems\nContinuously look for opportunities to eliminate manual work and improve operational scale\nJump into high-priority problems wherever leverage is highest\nWhat you'll need:\n1-3+ years of experience as a software engineer, product engineer, or technical generalist\nStrong coding skills in JavaScript/TypeScript (React + Node preferred)\nComfort working across the stack and owning products end-to-end\nExperience building internal tools, automation systems, or operational platforms\nExcitement about shipping practical AI/LLM use cases that drive real outcomes\nStrong product intuition and bias toward impact and speed\nAbility to thrive in fast-paced, high-trust environments\nFinTech experience is preferred but not required\nExperience working closely with ops, support, or risk teams is a strong plus\nWhy Karat?\nHuge opportunity.
