This is a pivotal and exciting time in our journey, as we bring this life-changing technology to patients!\n\nWe are looking for a Senior FPGA Engineer to help support the next generation of high-quality medical devices. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in the development and commercialization of complex and leading-edge FPGA-based systems. You will be responsible for supporting and improving the FPGA designs that power our medical devices. \n\nPlease note, this opportunity is a hybrid work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC.\n\nMeaningful work you will be a part of\nFPGA design, including implementing and verifying modules. \nSupporting debugging efforts for FPGA-related issues, working closely with firmware and hardware teams. \nWriting and maintaining testbenches to validate FPGA functionality. \nParticipating in code reviews, contributing to design improvements and optimization. \nAssisting in system integration by collaborating with software, hardware, and verification teams. \nWorking with multi-FPGA systems, including interconnect design and verification. \nDocumenting designs, test procedures, and debugging results to ensure knowledge retention and transfer. \n\nWhat you bring to the team\nOur Kardium team is smart, creative, and passionate about creating cutting-edge medical devices to help improve people’s lives. And we understand that only by working together can we solve the unsolvable.\nYou will be successful in this role because you possess these attributes:\nBachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field. \nMinimum 5+ years of experience in FPGA development and verification. \nExperience with Vivado for FPGA design and Active-HDL for simulation and verification. \nProficiency in VHDL (primary); Verilog/SystemVerilog an asset. \nExperience with static timing analysis and closure. \nUnderstanding of AXI (Lite/Full) memory-mapped register interfaces. \nUnderstanding of clock domain crossing (CDC) principles. \nBasic understanding of analog/mixed-signal design, high-speed digital design, and signal integrity concepts. \nAbility to read electrical schematics. \nExperience with debugging tools such as logic analyzers and oscilloscopes. \nExperience leveraging AI to speed development. \nProficiency in TCL and Python scripting. \nFamiliarity with Git-based version control and code review workflows. \nStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. \nExcellent verbal and written communication skills. \nStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively across multiple disciplines and functions at various levels of the organization. \nNice to Have: \nExperience with medical device design and quality requirements \nExperience with Zynq FPGAs and SoCs. \nExperience with the Xilinx UltraScale+ family. \nExperience with linting tools such as Aldec ALINT. \nExperience with Aurora and high-speed serial links (GTH transceivers). \nExperience with multi-FPGA AXI interconnect design. \nExperience with Vivado IP Integrator and TCL-based block design. \nExperience with ADC/DAC SPI interfacing. \nOther Attributes: \nAn exceptional level of technical expertise \nProficiency with test and measurement equipment \nA strong drive to succeed with a track record of being highly productive \nExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail \nAble to deal with changing priorities and requirements \nAble to execute tasks with minimal instruction and guidance \nAble to rapidly understand new concepts and acquire new skills\n\nCompensation \nKardium has listed the total cash compensation range (base salary + 5% Retirement Savings Plan contribution) that we expect to pay applicants for this role, as of the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs.
