Today everything we use in orbit - fuel, water, materials - is launched from Earth, which keeps every mission slow, expensive and small. Asteroids already hold those resources in orbit. We build the spacecraft and systems to go get them.\nOur first mission launches in 2028 to rendezvous with the asteroid Apophis - a deep-space mission designed, built and tested by our team in Broomfield, Colorado, on a startup timeline and budget. We develop most of our own hardware, from power and propulsion electronics to RF systems and payloads, and we test it in our own facilities.\nThe role\nSpacecraft get designed by engineers, but they get built by the person who makes sure the chamber is ready, the parts are on the shelf, the cleanroom is clean and the shipment cleared customs. That’s this job. You keep the lab, the test facilities and the flow of hardware running so the engineering team can spend its time engineering. It is hands-on, varied, and visible: when the thermal-vacuum campaign starts on Monday, it’s because you made Friday happen.\nRequirements\nDay to day you will\nRun the test facilities. Prepare and operate the thermal-vacuum chamber, vibration table and cleanroom alongside the responsible engineers; keep ground-support equipment, fixtures, cabling and instrumentation ready; manage calibration schedules; keep test logs and procedures current.\nKeep the building working. Utilities, compressed gas and vacuum supply, cleanroom and ESD controls, tools and consumables, safety equipment, access control, vendor and contractor coordination, and the small fit-out projects that come with a growing lab.\nMove the hardware. Receiving and inspection, inventory and kitting of flight and test parts, storage with the right traceability, packing and shipping - including the paperwork for export-controlled and hazardous items such as pressurised vessels.\nHold the line on safety and cleanliness. Pressure-system, high-voltage, chemical and cleanroom protocols; PPE; incident reporting; keeping the place in a state where a visiting customer or auditor wouldn’t make us nervous.\nMake things run smoother. Spot the recurring friction - the missing fixture, the part that’s always late, the procedure nobody can find - and fix it.\nYou’ll fit if you have\nHands-on experience in a lab, test facility, workshop, or production floor - aerospace, electronics, automotive, scientific instruments, or military service all translate well.\nComfort around vacuum systems, pressurised gas, electrical equipment and precision hardware, and the discipline to follow and improve procedures.\nOrganisation: you keep inventory, logs and schedules accurate without being asked.\nThe ability to work alongside engineers as a peer - asking what they need, telling them what’s not going to work, and not waiting to be told.\nA practical, fix-it attitude and the judgement to know when to stop and ask.\nNice to have\nCleanroom or ESD-controlled environment experience\nForklift, crane or rigging certification\nHazmat or IATA shipping training\nFamiliarity with inventory or ERP tools\nExperience supporting environmental test campaigns\nRequired\nUS work authorization\nBenefits\nSalary Range: $65k-90k annually\nBenefits:\nMedical plans\nDental & Vision plans\nLife insurance\nShort-term and Long-term Disability Insurance\n401(k) Retirement Plan\nEquity Incentive Plan","description_format":"text","description_chars":3416,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity","Life insurance","Retirement plans"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Satellite Manufacturing","Earth Observation"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-20T00:03:49Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":86,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.86,"p_room":1,"age_days":1,"expected_fill_days":32,"reasons":["conf:2","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-20T05:45:00Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":90000,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/karman-lab-technician","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/karman-lab-technician.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-20T20:38:14Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":23994,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-21T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":2335634},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=2335634"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fkarman-lab-technician"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fkarman-lab-technician"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fkarman-lab-technician"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/karman-lab-technician\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fkarman-lab-technician"}]}
