Backed by decades of flight-proven and fielded performance, we design and build mission-critical technologies including launch systems, propulsion, payload integration solutions, UAV components, missile subsystems, and Safe & Arm systems.\nIn this role, you lead development engineering activities that bring new aerospace and defense mechanical technologies from concept to demonstration and full-scale system deployment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you drive test planning, prototype development, data analysis, and customer engagement to verify designs, reduce technical risk, and ensure successful product performance. Your work directly advances program objectives and strengthens Karman’s ability to deliver high-value solutions for military and aerospace applications.\nResponsibilities\nLeads planning and execution of testing required for mechanical system development.\nSupports engineering teams to meet client goals on schedule, within budget, and with strong technical accuracy and completeness.\nDesigns and analyzes tests, writes test procedures and plans, oversees data collection, and prepares test reports.\nSupports business development and project performance activities to align engineering solutions with customer needs.\nLeads proposal efforts by collaborating with clients and internal technical teams to develop requirements, presentations, and project definitions.\nServes as a mentor and technical resource for junior engineers.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience and registration.\nTypically 4-7 years of aerospace or defense engineering experience.\nProven experience leading product development tests, including development testing and assisting in qualification testing.\nProficiency with data acquisition systems and instrumentation.\nSolid understanding of multiple engineering technologies.\nProficiency with SolidWorks and experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).\nKnowledge of military and commercial specifications.\nThis position requires U.S. person status under U.S. export control laws, including U.S. citizens and nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees.\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.\nBenefits\nMedical, dental, and vision insurance\n401(k) with company match\nPaid time off\nHealth Savings Account (HSA) with company contribution\nFlexible Spending Accounts (FSA)\nCompany-paid life and AD&D insurance\nShort- and long-term disability coverage\nTuition reimbursement\nKarman Space and Defense is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
