Our bow-to-stern capabilities include acoustic and sonar protection systems, propulsion systems, advanced composite structures, missile subsystems, canisters and launchers, and autonomous underwater vehicle subsystems. From concept through production, we combine engineering, materials expertise, specialized manufacturing, and large-scale testing to deliver mission-ready systems that reduce technical risk and support long-term operational performance.\nThe Safety Clerk supports weekend manufacturing operations by performing onsite safety walkthroughs, maintaining accurate safety records, assisting with incident documentation, and coordinating corrective action updates with supervisors. Working closely with the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) team, this role ensures that routine inspections, reporting procedures, and safety communications are completed consistently to help maintain a safe, compliant, and well-organized work environment.\nSchedule\nThursday-Sunday schedule consisting of one 4-hour shift and three 12-hour shifts.\nResponsibilities\nConducts assigned safety walkthroughs using established checklists and reports hazards promptly.\nCompletes routine checks of emergency equipment within assigned training and authorization and reports deficiencies.\nMaintains inspection records, training attendance, safety forms, personal protective equipment (PPE) issue logs, and corrective action files.\nFollows up with weekend supervisors on open findings and updates corrective action documentation.\nNotifies designated supervisors and EHS contacts of injuries, near misses, spills, and unsafe conditions and assists with factual incident documentation as directed.\nSupports approved safety orientations, toolbox talks, training scheduling, and attendance tracking.\nMonitors supplies of assigned PPE, first aid materials, safety forms, and signage and assists with distribution.\nPrepares written weekend handoff documentation summarizing inspection results, incidents, completed actions, and outstanding concerns.\nPerforms related clerical and safety support tasks within established training and authorization.\nRequired Qualifications\nHigh school diploma or General Educational Development (GED).\nAbility to work the Thursday-Sunday schedule reliably and attend required onboarding and training.\nBasic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, electronic filing, and accurate data entry.\nAbility to read and follow written procedures, complete checklists, and prepare clear, factual reports.\nStrong organization, attention to detail, follow-through, and professional communication.\nAbility to work with limited supervision, recognize when assistance is needed, and escalate concerns promptly.\nAbility to maintain confidentiality and complete assigned job-specific safety training.\nPreferred Qualifications\nSix months to one year of experience in administrative support, manufacturing, warehousing, quality, or workplace safety.\nCompletion of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-Hour General Industry training; OSHA 30-Hour General Industry training is also beneficial.\nCurrent First Aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillator (AED) certification, or willingness to obtain it if assigned emergency response duties.\nFamiliarity with safety inspections, PPE, hazard communication, safety data sheets, incident reporting, and corrective action tracking.\nCoursework or a certificate in occupational safety, environmental health, or a related field.\nThis position requires U.S. person status under U.S. export control laws, including U.S. citizens and nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees.\nBenefits\nMedical, dental, and vision insurance\n401(k) with company match\nPaid time off\nHealth Savings Account (HSA) with company contribution\nFlexible Spending Accounts (FSA)\nCompany-paid life and AD&D insurance\nShort- and long-term disability coverage\nTuition reimbursement\nKarman Space and Defense is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
