In doing so, we strive to create a better, safer and more sustainable world.\nProgram Summary\nThe National Science Foundation (NSF) manages the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). The USAP supports all U.S. scientific research and related logistics in Antarctica and aboard USAP vessels that operate along the continental margin and in the Southern Ocean. Science within the Antarctic research portfolio is chosen and funded by NSF and other Federal agencies, including NASA, NOAA, and the Department of Energy. The purpose of the Antarctic Science and Engineering Support Contract (ASESC) is to enable that science.\nAll participants are responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority. This includes compliance with all ASESC environmental health & safety, and quality assurance requirements.\nJob Summary\nThe Air Operations Transition Lead serves as the subject matter expert responsible for the transition, assessment, and operational continuity of aviation services supporting Antarctic operations. This role oversees the transition of intercontinental and intracontinental flight operations, load planning, aircraft dispatch, air-operator coordination, and helicopter operations that are critical to safely transporting personnel, cargo, and scientific resources across Antarctica.\nRoles and Responsibilities\nLead the transition of intercontinental and intracontinental flight planning and scheduling operations.\nOversee the transition of load planning, aircraft dispatch, and air-operator coordination activities.\nSupport the transition and operational assessment of helicopter operations.\nDocument and manage interfaces with military and commercial aviation partners.\nEnsure aviation operations, procedures, and documentation are effectively transitioned and maintained.\nProvide technical expertise and oversight to support safe, efficient, and compliant aviation operations.\nBasic Qualifications\nU.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation.\nBachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Aviation Operations, Transportation, Logistics, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.\n5+ years of experience in aviation operations, flight operations, dispatch, air mobility, or related aviation support functions.\nExperience with flight planning, scheduling, dispatch, load planning, or air operations coordination.\nKnowledge of aviation safety principles, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements.\nExperience coordinating with multiple stakeholders in operational environments.\nStrong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to work in complex, fast-paced, and mission-critical environments.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting military, remote, polar, expeditionary, or austere aviation operations.\nKnowledge of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aviation operations.\nExperience with airlift operations, cargo management, or aircraft load planning.\nFamiliarity with aviation dispatch, flight-following, and airfield operations.\nExperience coordinating with military and commercial air operators.\nRelevant aviation certifications, flight operations training, or dispatcher credentials.\nKBR Benefits\nKBR offers a selection of competitive lifestyle benefits which could include 401K plan with company match, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, flexible spending account, disability, paid time off, or flexible work schedule.
