Eligibility for additional accesses may be required.\nPosition Summary\nKBR is seeking a highly motivated Communications Satellite (COMSAT) Technical Analysis Engineer/Analyst to conduct technical intelligence analysis of foreign communications satellite systems and architectures. The selected candidate will evaluate adversary and competitor space-based communications capabilities, including satellite payloads, communications networks, ground segments, frequency usage, resiliency features, and future modernization initiatives.\nThis position supports national-level intelligence assessments of foreign military, civil, commercial, and dual-use communications systems and their implications for global military operations, strategic competition, and national security. The successful candidate will apply engineering principles, scientific analysis, and intelligence tradecraft to assess current and emerging space communications capabilities.\nKey Responsibilities\nConduct technical analysis of foreign communications satellite (COMSAT) systems, constellations, and supporting infrastructure.\nAssess satellite communications architectures, payload designs, transponder technologies, antenna systems, and network capabilities.\nAnalyze communications satellite performance, coverage, capacity, bandwidth, frequency utilization, and operational employment.\nCharacterize foreign military, commercial, and government satellite communications capabilities and modernization programs.\nEvaluate emerging technologies including high-throughput satellites (HTS), software-defined payloads, optical communications, direct-to-device communications, and proliferated satellite architectures.\nAssess foreign satellite communications resiliency, redundancy, anti-jam capabilities, cyber vulnerabilities, and survivability.\nAnalyze communications satellite launches, constellation deployments, and on-orbit operations.\nIntegrate technical measurements, intelligence reporting, scientific publications, and open-source information into comprehensive assessments.\nDevelop current and future capability assessments of foreign communications infrastructures and supporting space ecosystems.\nProduce intelligence reports, technical studies, threat assessments, briefings, and executive-level products.\nCollaborate with engineers, scientists, analysts, and mission partners across the Intelligence Community and Department of War.\nSupport strategic forecasting of foreign space communications capabilities and technology developments.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related technical field in lieu of degree 8 years' experience can be substituted \n3+ years of experience in satellite communications, RF engineering, space systems, intelligence analysis, telecommunications, or related technical disciplines.\nActive TS/SCI security clearance.\nKnowledge of communications satellite fundamentals, RF systems, signal propagation, and satellite network architectures.\nExperience analyzing technical data and producing written assessments.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, writing, and briefing skills.\nAbility to work independently and on multidisciplinary technical teams.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting NSIC, DIA, Space Force, Air Force, NSA, NGA, NRO, or other Intelligence Community organizations.\nKnowledge of GEO, MEO, LEO, and HEO communications satellite architectures.\nExperience with SATCOM systems, network analysis, telecommunications infrastructure, or RF signal analysis.\nFamiliarity with military satellite communications (MILSATCOM), commercial SATCOM, and protected communications systems.\nUnderstanding of satellite payload design, beamforming, frequency reuse, and spectrum management.\nKnowledge of foreign aerospace industries, satellite manufacturers, and communications technology development programs.\nExperience producing intelligence assessments and technical reports for senior decision-makers.\nDesired Competencies\nStrong technical curiosity and ability to analyze complex space systems.\nAbility to synthesize information from multiple intelligence disciplines into actionable assessments.\nExceptional written communication and intelligence production skills.\nExcellent briefing and presentation abilities.\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to analytic rigor.\nAbility to evaluate future technology trends and their strategic implications.\nLeveling Guidance\nEngineer/Analyst II\n3 to 7 years of relevant experience\nSupports focused technical assessments and intelligence production\nSenior Engineer/Analyst\n7 to 12 years of relevant experience\nLeads major analytic efforts and mentors junior analysts\nPrincipal Engineer/Analyst\n12+ years of relevant experience\nRecognized subject matter expert responsible for strategic-level assessments, community engagement, and technical leadership across COMSAT mission areas.\nBelong, Connect and Grow at KBR\nAt KBR, we are passionate about our people and our Zero Harm culture.
