But we all share one goal: to improve the world responsibly and safely by supporting the science that informs decision makers and protects Earth.\nKBR’s Science and Space division is seeking a Software Engineer/Web Developer to support our Technical Support Services Contract (TSSC) at the United States Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Resources Observation & Science (EROS) Center (http://eros.usgs.gov/) near Sioux Falls, SD (http://www.siouxfalls.org).\nThis position is for an entry to mid-level Software Engineer with a Web Development background to join our talented team in creating exciting, cutting-edge web-based mapping tools for Science projects that serve a variety of communities including wildland fire management, drought monitoring, and land cover mapping.\nPosition Summary\nTitle: Full Stack Software Engineer\nResponsibilities\nDevelop and maintain websites and mapping applications for visualizing and distributing geospatial data.\nDevelop Python scripts that produce geospatial data products.\nSupport a diverse array of technologies including, but not limited to PHP, Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XML.\nInteract with a skilled web development team that supports the USGS EROS Integrated Science Applications Branch.\nMinimum Requirements\nThis position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a national agency check and background investigation after hire to obtain credentials for facility access and user accounts\nEducation: Must minimally hold a software engineering or computer science bachelor’s degree\n Years of Experience: Must have minimum 3-5 years of recent and related work experience\nExperience with web design, administration, and database-driven applications\nExperience with JavaScript frameworks (such as React, Jquery, OpenLayers and Leaflet), and strong proficiency with HTML/CSS\nExperience with Python and PHP\nExperience with databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL)\nExperience with security concepts\nExperience with collaboration software\nExcellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team\nWell versed in software engineering methodology and processes\nAreas of Desired Experience & Skills\nFamiliarity with a cloud provider/concepts (like AWS or Azure)\nFamiliarity with Kubernetes or other container knowledge\nFamiliarity with requirements and design analysis\nExperience with testing and configuration management tools such as Git\nExperience with geospatial tools (commercial or open source), including analysis, visualization, or data handling workflows\nKnowledge of OGC standards (WMS, WFS, WCS, WPS) and OGC APIs\nFamiliarity with projections, reference systems, and spatial data transformations\nExperience and/or Education in lieu of these qualifications will be reviewed for applicability to meet these requirements.\nWork Location\nThis position supports a team anchored in Sioux Falls, SD, and is offered in a hybrid remote/onsite work environment.
