As part of our mission-driven team, you’ll contribute to projects that make a global impact-supporting research, innovation, and technology that empower scientists and decision-makers worldwide.\nPosition Overview\nThis summer-based internship is open to juniors, seniors, and graduate students pursuing a career in software development. You will work on-site at the EROS Center near Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and gain real-world experience in software engineering. Candidate must have three years of continuous residency in the U.S. for issuance of a Government Security credential.\nWhy You’ll Love This Role\nWork on meaningful projects that support Earth science and sustainability\nCollaborate with experienced engineers and mentors who are passionate about innovation\nGain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies in software development\nBe part of a team that values curiosity, creativity, and continuous learning\nWhat You’ll Gain\nPractical experience with modern software development tools and methodologies\nExposure to cloud technologies and data systems\nMentorship from experienced engineers and opportunities for professional growth\nInsight into government contracting and mission-critical IT operations\nCore Responsibilities\nDesign and implement tasks required in the development of software products\nCommunicate and coordinate activities and technical status with your mentor, supervisor, Project Lead, and other team members\nEnsure all software activities are conducted in accordance with standards and best practices\nSupport software planning including requirements definition, activity identification, and estimating\nPerform and document preliminary and detailed design of software components\nImplement software from detailed designs\nDevelop and conduct software testing\nDocument the testing effort through generation of test plans, procedures, and reports\nSubmit, analyze, and manage configuration change requests in accordance with CM processes\nParticipate in code reviews\nEducation & Skills\nWorking towards a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or equivalent\nRequired Skills\nExcellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills\nAbility to work independently as well as part of a team\nKnowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle\nExperience using Python and C/C++\nExperience interfacing with database systems\nUnix/Linux experience\nDesired Skills\nThis internship is designed to help you learn.
