Our open, inclusive environment ensures people are valued, supported and able to thrive. By joining KBR, you become part of a team that works together, shares common values and is united in delivering great outcomes.\nThis is a rare opportunity to work at the forefront of one of the most strategically significant engineering programmes in Australia's history.\nKBR Infrastructure Solutions Australia, in partnership with Frazer-Nash Consultancy, is seeking experienced Nuclear Safety Case Engineers to join Australia's largest industry team of Nuclear Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (NSQEP). This is not routine infrastructure work it is nation-building engineering of the highest order.\nThe Opportunity\nUnder AUKUS Pillar 1, Australia is on a defined path to acquiring and operating a fleet of conventionally armed, Nuclear-Powered Submarines (NPS). Delivering that capability safely and on schedule demands world-class nuclear safety expertise and that is precisely what our team provides.\nYou will work directly alongside government and defence stakeholders to deliver nuclear safety informed design processes for naval nuclear facilities and infrastructure across Australia. The work is technically demanding, nationally critical, and professionally rewarding in equal measure.\nOur team has been intentionally built and now represents the deepest concentration of nuclear safety expertise in Australian industry. You would be joining and shaping that capability at a defining moment in its growth.\nWhat You Will Do\nLead and contribute to nuclear safety cases for complex naval nuclear infrastructure\nApply deterministic safety analysis methodologies to generate safety requirements and inform the design process\nEngage with licensing and regulatory frameworks governing nuclear-powered naval operations\nProduce and review technical design substantiation documentation to the standard demanded by nuclear regulation\nMentor and develop the next generation of Australian NSQEP\nWhat We Offer\nStructured development. We have invested in building genuine internal training and mentoring capability. If you come from a high-hazard regulated industry: oil and gas, conventional defence, aviation, or similar; and are seeking a transition into the nuclear domain, we have the infrastructure to support that pathway. We are actively seeking candidates with that profile.\nScale and variety. With projects spanning Canberra, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Brisbane, we offer geographic flexibility while maintaining access to a nationally connected, highly experienced team.\nSignificance. Few engineering roles offer the combination of technical rigour, regulatory complexity, and strategic national importance that this programme demands. Your work will directly enable Australia's sovereign nuclear submarine capability.\nWhat We Are Looking For\nEssential\nEstablished experience across the following disciplines:\nSafety-informed design process\nDeterministic Safety Analysis\nRegulation and licensing\nTechnical design substantiation\nEngineering degree or equivalent relevant qualification\nEligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence security clearance\nDesirable\nExperience in high-hazard industries operating under formal regulatory regimes\nDirect experience with nuclear-powered submarine programmes\nInvolvement in the delivery of nuclear facilities or infrastructure\nBackground in Defence project delivery\nA Note to Career-Changers\nIf your career has been spent in a regulated, high-hazard environment - and you have the analytical rigour, safety discipline, and professional credibility that entails - we want to hear from you. Nuclear safety expertise is built, not simply recruited. We have the capability to develop the right people, and we actively encourage applications from those ready to make that transition.\nAt KBR, we value you - here’s how.\nWhile our people are busy delivering leading science, technology, and engineering solutions, we’re committed to providing them with a supportive, trusting environment and benefits that enable them to thrive and continue doing what they do best.\nBenefits include:\nIndustry leading salaries reviewed annually.\n20 Days of annual leave per year + the ability to accrue an additional 8 hours every 4 weeks (33 days in total)\nFlexible work arrangements (start/finish times, WFH, Flex time)\nSalary packaging and novated leases\nPaid professional membership fees\nLife/Health insurance discounts\nEmployee stock purchase plans\nPersonal career development plans\nGrowth and promotion opportunities\nGreat office environment with fantastic facilities\nAccess to health benefits programs\nHelp shape tomorrow by applying today!\nOur people are the heart of everything we do.
