This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced systems engineer to take a leading role in the design, integration, and delivery of critical ICT and Operational Communications Systems that support safe, reliable, and efficient transport operations.\nWorking within multidisciplinary project teams, you will provide technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through to integration, testing, commissioning, and handover. You will play a key role in shaping project outcomes, mentoring engineers, and ensuring delivery of high-quality, compliant, and future-ready communications solutions.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead the design, integration, and delivery of ICT and Operational Communications Systems (OCS) for major transportation projects.\nDevelop and review technical designs, specifications, interface requirements, and engineering documentation.\nProvide specialist expertise across communications systems including CCTV, PA/VA, Passenger Information Systems, help points, operational networks, fibre infrastructure, and wireless communications.\nCoordinate system interfaces with signalling, rolling stock, stations, power, and other multidisciplinary engineering disciplines.\nSupport systems engineering, assurance, testing, commissioning, and acceptance activities throughout the project lifecycle.\nEngage with clients, operators, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver integrated and compliant solutions.\nMentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership across the team.\nEnsure compliance with relevant standards, governance requirements, safety assurance processes, and quality standards.\nDrive innovation, continuous improvement, and the adoption of emerging transport communications technologies.\nAbout You\nYou are a highly capable ICT and Operational Communications Systems professional with experience delivering complex transportation infrastructure projects. You bring strong technical expertise, proven systems engineering capability, and the ability to confidently engage with clients and stakeholders while leading project delivery.\nYou are passionate about delivering resilient, integrated communications solutions that enhance operational safety, passenger experience, and network performance.\nWhat You Bring\nEstablished experience delivering ICT, telecommunications, operational communications, or systems engineering solutions on major infrastructure projects.\nDemonstrated experience across rail, metro, light rail, road tunnel, airport, or other transportation environments.\nStrong understanding of Operational Communications Systems and associated transport technologies.\nExperience leading design packages and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering interfaces.\nKnowledge of systems engineering principles, requirements management, integration, testing, and commissioning processes.\nStrong communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills.\nAbility to work autonomously while contributing to collaborative project teams.\nProficiency in engineering documentation, design tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.\nDegree qualification in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, ICT Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.\nAs a function of the work that we do, it is a key requirement that you are an Australian citizen and either hold or are eligible for, security clearance with the Australian Defence.\nDesirable\nExperience delivering major rail and metro projects.\nFamiliarity with Australian rail standards, transport authority requirements, and international communications standards.\nExperience with systems assurance, cybersecurity, RAMS, and operational readiness activities.\nChartered Engineer status (CPEng) or progress towards chartership.\nExperience within consulting, engineering advisory, or design consultancy environments.\nWhy Join Us?\nYou will have the opportunity to contribute to some of Australia's most complex and transformative transportation projects, working alongside industry-leading professionals in a collaborative and innovative environment.
