This role supports modeling, simulation, and operationally relevant systems across research and applied DoD programs. These programs primarily involve, but not always, position, navigation, and timing (PNT) systems.\nThis position requires deep technical expertise in software development and PNT fundamentals, with the ability to design and perform algorithm implementation, guide technical execution, and work across system, algorithm, and integration boundaries. The developer will work closely with systems engineers and hardware teams to design, analyze, and mature PNT capabilities in laboratory and field environments.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, and maintain software supporting systems, simulations, and performance analysis environments\nLead development and implementation of algorithms grounded in first principles physics, including measurement modeling, error characterization, and estimator behavior under non ideal conditions\nArchitect and integrate within software frameworks supporting simulation, analysis, and test\nIntegrate software with hardware- and software-in-the-loop (HITL& SITL) and digital twin environments\nDefine and develop interfaces between software components and external systems\nLead and support test planning, execution, and analysis for PNT-focused experiments, demonstrations, and evaluations\nCollaborate with systems engineers to align system requirements, hardware constraints, and software designs\nReview, mentor, and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers\nDocument software designs, algorithms, and test results to support technical reviews and customer deliverables\nParticipate in team technical interchange meetings to describe technical activities, progress, issues, improvements, and more\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline\nStrong verbal and written communications skills\n8+ years of professional experience developing software for technical systems\nProficiency in C/C++ or Python with experience owning complex software components or frameworks\nExperience developing software on Linux and Windows based systems\nStrong understanding of PNT concepts (e.g., Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSSs),, inertial navigation, timing, sensor fusion) and associated error sources\nExperience integrating software with complex systems, simulations, or external hardware components\nAbility to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance\nDesired Qualifications\nAdvanced experience with GPS/GNSS signal processing, navigation algorithms, or timing systems\nExperience developing or evaluating alternative or resilient PNT approaches\nExperience with modeling, simulation, or digital twin environments supporting PNT analysis\nFamiliarity with real-time or embedded systems\nExperience with HIL/SIL test architectures, laboratory integration, or field testing\nExperience supporting DoD programs, laboratory R&D, or operational prototyping efforts\nBasic Compensation: $150,000 - $200,000 (For Beavercreek, OH Only)\nThe offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.\nBelong, Connect and Grow at KBR\nAt KBR, we are passionate about our people and our Zero Harm culture.
